REBEL MATTERS
like to see a good run in this comp this season now.

I think we got through two rounds last season and as you say it would be good if we can better that. Just looked and we knocked out by WSM in our first game in the comp. so anything from the second game onwards would be a bonus compared to last season. Jon Underwood
The WSM game last year was the week before the Gillingham game and obviously was a lesser priority at the time. I think we made 6 changes that day. This year will be a different scenario and we are determined to have a good Trophy run this year.

The Trophy is an unusual competition, with some Club’s at the the top & bottom of the Conference National prioritising the league, & others that have had an FA Cup run not having much interest...... combine that with our current form & the comment from Jon I haven’t been able to resist a punt on us a 100/1!!! Reading Rebel
I would say the interest and desire to win the competition is there but as usual clubs have to prioritise between promotion/relegation and trying to get as far as they can in a cup competition. A Rebel and a Saint
I don't think we've made the first round proper since the year we played Walsall, so about 15 years. Given we're only one round away from it now hopefully that streak will end soon!

On 26.2.05 after being 0-2 up we lost 3-2 at Gravesend & Northfleet in the FA Trophy 5th. Round. I was there ... a fantastic match and there wasn't any sign of what was coming up for the next ten seasons!
Mark44
Michael Murphy was sensational that day
Radders
Yeah he scored both out goals of memory serves me correctly, 1 a free kick and 1 a long range rocket!!! Have to admit I don’t remember us leading 2-0, I thought we were 1-0 down, then 2-1 up and then lost 3-2 but happy to be proved wrong.
GarySTFC
https://www.sloughtownfc.net/reports/4377 1-0 down, 1-2 up, 3-2 finish. Famously the only goal I didn't manage to capture on the handheld camera that season was Michael Murphy's goal of the season contender and I'm not sure he ever forgave me for finishing second in the end of season awards for it! ?
