FA Cup - Chippenham away 5th October

I would suspect our Manager’s had a dilemma & some significant discussions when deciding on the formation & line up for this match, because on the one hand the 4-5-1 adopted of late has been working very well recently & our league results have been fantastic.

On the other hand Ben Harris scored two goals against Flackwell in 70 minutes, & the winner against Dartford in the 15 minutes he was on the pitch..... in that sort of form it would have been very difficult to leave him out of the starting line up, but Dan Roberts has also been superb & couldn’t be dropped. And Ben Harris did score again!

So, the change to 4-4-2 didn’t surprise me, but I think it did mean that we didn’t have quite so much possession as we have in some recent league matches.

What formation & line up will we use for the replay? No idea, but I’m sure our Manager’s will get it right & progress to the next round.

What a great dilemma to have. Ben has indeed been scoring , Dan is a revelation , Birdy gets off the mark , even Francis on loan bags a couple and who would have thought at the start of the season he would not be our main striker!  I want Bakes and Unders to pick my lottery numbers this week as they can do no wrong at the moment. 11 unbeaten,  in the hat for the next round 6th in the table, impact subs, 442 or  451 its all working! . Good Times .

As you say Stan as things stand it couldn't get much better.

On your striker point, I would imagine most supporters thinking at the start of the season would have been a strike pairing of Ryan Bird and Ben Harris with Manny, Dan and Francis as our back up strikers pushing for a starting place.

After half an hour, the Hayes & Yeading United season ticket holder sitting next to me said "if anyone can score, their team will win it 1-0". Two minutes later, The Mad Hatter's Tea Party began. After the match, the Hayes & Yeading United report writer said to me, "I won't have any trouble writing my one hundred and fifty words report with seven goals". "There were nine goals", I replied. Joe Grant was influential for Hayes & Yeading United throughout. Francis Amartey was not involved as much for Hendon but caused problems for Hayes & Yeading United when he did get the ball, scoring Hendon's third and fourth goals.

I look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday evening. I will tune my vuvuzela in perfect pitch before I leave home!

Unfortunately, my cold has so far resisted everything that I have taken for it so I had to refrain from going to football this evening.

Always seems to be that same end that opponents worldies sail into.  I recall that Gloucester player with the French name last year hitting one. Plus a few others......

I am going to a concert in South Bank at 7.30 pm so Hayes & Yeading United got the nod as it's on my way to the concert.

FA Cup 1st. Round Proper :-

Chichester City Things can only get better! Their only previous appearance in the 1st. Round proper previously was in 1960/1 when they lost 11-0 away to Bristol City. Now in 2019/20 they get £36,000 for doing nought!

Hayes & Yeading United : Bound to break the SKYex Stadium ground record of 416 for the home tie with Oxford United.

Whitby Town : They lost their replay at Stourbridge 3-2 after being 0-2 up and having a penalty saved. I am on holiday in Whitby for the 1st. Round Proper weekend but might make Sunderland v Gillingham and/or York City v Altrincham.
