Hampton/ Francis Armartey

Seems the right time to let Francis get some games elsewhere, given our team's current form, just hope we don't need him!

Hampton haven't exactly been setting a trail with their results but I'm still expecting a hard game against them, being a sort of derby game, and that Gary McCann's sides are not about rolling over and dying, figuratively speaking. That said, I'm optimistic that we will get the 3 points on Saturday.

Wonder if Mark Nisbet is available again this week?

7 matches unbeaten, playing well and at home to second bottom, aside from cautious RR we should be confident about winning. No it won’t be easy but play like we have done and we should have enough to get the win. A win could see us into a play off spot and sets us up nicely with the FA Cup game next Saturday. Shame Wazza is missing as he’s a starter if fit, I guess Joe may get his chance to shine?

You’d say the same if it was 10 divisions apart! There are ‘easier than others’ games, the table doesn’t lie!

Glen last season three teams who were at wrong end of the table at the time we played them and lost all three.

And W/S/M one of the best teams we faced at home who played very good football just were not consistent and without prolific goal scorers to help them throughout the season.

East Thurrock 1 - 0 away

W/S/Mare.       2 - 0 away

Truro.                1 - 2 home

Also 1-2 home to Gloucester City.

But like you I am always positive.

From this supporter's view, I thought it was a sporadic performance from the Slough team today,as we were very good in some things we did but at other times seemed to go to sleep in our defending. Didn't think the result was ever in real doubt, as Hampton looked like a team that needs a couple of additions and while they did have the odd chance I didn't feel they over troubled us.

Obviously we missed Wazza in our attacking intent but thankfully the team still came up with some good moves going forward. Max Worsfold and Scott Davies had fine games. Thought Joe Grant filled in well defensively by trying to get on headers and making tackles but he no longer looks confident to take on opposition defenders and run down the wing or cut inside like he did in pre-season, which may well be down to the standard of player he's coming up against but he shouldn't throw in the towel just yet on this. Shame he didn't have a go at it today,as I thought he might have had some joy there. Dan Roberts gets better with every game and what a well taken goal he scored today, he's become a real crowd favourite.

Oddly, the substitutions we made seemed to upset our rhythm going forward, I thought they were the correct choices but for some reason didn't seem to have the impact one had hoped for. Not a vintage Slough performance today but you can only beat the opposition put in front of you and Slough did that comfortably enough, without really going up the gears.

Hampton on the other hand are not the worst side I've ever seen but clearly they have problems. Gary McCann's got his work cut out stopping the rot but I didn't think they were as bad as their position in the table seems to suggest. Apart from nearly taking George Wells head off with a ill advised high kick I thought their number 8 Tyrell Miller-Rodney looked a useful player and had a good game but unfortunately for him but not for Slough,he didnt have a lot of back up in midfield, and so Slough pretty much came out winners in the midfield battle again like we did against Eastbourne last week.

Onto the next one the Flackwell Heath cup match....

Hampton have problems in defence and certainly in their striker department.

On the day I thought our defence were not quite at the races with Hampton creating some good chances but fortunately for us they they didn't have the striker/s to capitalize on those chances.

I think they have one of their main strikers out injured at the moment and yesterday gave a debut to Jefferson Louis, so it's recognisable that they have a problem up front but if I was Gary McCann, I wouldn't just be looking up front, as I thought they had a couple of players in midfield that could easily be replaced with better but not necessarily dearer players. Hampton, though, are hamstrung with money issues,so Gary is having to wheel and deal to get a competent side together. I don't think he's far from getting that but will need to make a few tweaks to his personnel.

The Hampton fans seem to be getting restless and don't seem to be very tolerant to the problem Gary is having and some seem to think changing the manager is a better option.  I really don't see that being the solution. Think they got spoilt when Alan Dowson was there and they had the dosh.

Strange what fans want at times. Many seem totally oblivious to the fact that their club is struggling financially and expect a team of world beaters to turn out for them and to win every game. That's ludicrous in my book. I see Slough as work in progress. Hampton fans should get a touch of realism to where they are at.

I think Hampton are due a windfall from an ex player being transferred to another league club (can't remember his name at the moment) but not sure when it will come through or if it will be spent on players but it could be their saving grace.
