Eastbourne

Still spaces on the coach to this one, although there seems to be a reasonable following of fans staying in Eastbourne either one or two nights.

Also I'm told we'll be playing in the amber and blue, for anyone who wants to wear the right colours.

Correct we will be in the Amber kit Saturday.

Let's hope our recent good form continues at this game During pre season I do remember Neil flagging up Eastbourne as a team to watch although he didn't give reasons  Theyve not been great so far so I'm expecting us to continue our unbeaten streak

Purely down to the quality of signings.

Personally I'm not going to be so presumptive to expect anything but hopefully we'll continue with our good form and get something from the game.

I heard from various people that Eastbourne Borough had found a new investor plus a claim of a weekly budget nudging 5 figures. But recently it’s been claimed that investor has left and the playing squad reduced.

Just taken a look at their match day squad from last Saturday compared to the first game of the season and apart from one player they have the same 15 players.

RR  I agree nothings a given but they've won just two games to teams sitting 18th and 21st (Tonbridge and Hampton )and lost 5-0 to mid table Braintree I think our squad will be more confident at kick off

Excellent result and the run continues and confidence in each other must be  sky high.

It's certainly shaping up to be a tight league You have to go down to 12th today to find a losing team and only ourselves and Hemel achieved a two goal advantage all other games were drawn or won/lost by a single goal

It’s dangerous being too confident but the way we’re playing you would hope for another win against second bottom Hampton next Saturday. As long as we don’t let any complacency set in and we continue to work hard and concentrate as we have been doing. We should then be top 7 going into the FA Cup weekend.

Dangerous to count the old chickens Glen  ?

Most of the games are so tight that what position the opposition occupy in this league means diddly squat If we don't perform so lets take one game at a time and not be too presumptive  ?

Good performance today and another excellent 3 points away from home to keep our good run going.

My only concern at half time was that we had only scored the one goal.

For the first 5/10 minutes of the second half Eastbourne put us under some pressure and really should have equalized but put their effort over the bar when it looked easier to score.

After that we took control of the game, got the vital second goal and comfortably saw the game out.

MOTM match for me was Lee Togwell who seemlessly slotted into the back line and produced another excellent performance.

Yes tread with caution but thinking positive if you can’t be confident when you’re on this type of run when can you? No one expects Hampton to lie down for us but if we play like we have done for the last 7 games then not many would bet against us.

Of course we should be positive and confident with the run we are on but lets not get too carried away.

Yes Glen  Confidence grows as runs like our current one develop but now and then all the positives favour one side Today it was ourselves Eastbourne had played 9 games prior to today and scored just 7 goals but 4 of them were against struggling H&R  so just 3 goals in the other 8 games  Suggesting we should be successful in this one was hardly overconfidence imo!

Agree with Lee Bradbury that Eastbourne should of scored in their one real chance at the beginning of the second half but apart from that Eastbourne just wasn't at it. Slough were completely dominant and again played some excellent football, particularly first half. Can't remember Jack Turner having to make a save. Don't disagree with Unders much but I thought he was exaggerating when he said on the post match interview that ' Eastbourne are a good side'. I thought they were rubbish on the day and if they play like that in many more games Lee Bradbury will be facing the sack. The only player in the Eastbourne shirt that came out with much glory for me was their big centre half/number 6, who had a fine game.  I rate Greg Luer, the ex Woking forward but the Togwells had him in their pocket all game.

As for Slough it was another commanding performance. Our team were on it from the first whistle and grew in confidence and passed the ball around well and were a constant threat to Eastbourne. I thought our full backs supported our midfield excellently again,by getting forward at every opportunity, and George Wells in particular, had another fine game. Apart from two errant passes Scott Davies put in another solid performance. Simon Dunn also got better as the game wore on. Lenchy worked hard like he always does but he didn't steal the show in midfield today. Wazza had another great game and along with Dan Roberts were among our best players on the day. The only Slough player who seemed out of sorts today was Max Worsfold. First half he did okay but second half he seemed to struggle to get involved. I was amazed that we took Dan Roberts off as I thought we would have put Francis on beside him for the final twenty minutes, as Eastbourne had gone down to ten men and hadn't been a threat and I thought we would have added to our tally, given the Eastbourne's defensive woes but I suppose Bakes and Unders experience and cautious way was probably the right thing to do, as better to see the game out for 0-2 win than risk changing to a 4-4-2, after our 4-5-1 had performed so heroically, to risk our lead.

The only word of caution to our 4-5-1 shape currently, is that with Dan Roberts and his exhaustive running, movement  and drifting into wide channels and looking to get on ball at any one time, we have a decent lone striker but I don't see any of our other strikers being ideal for playing this way. Francis Amartey came on late in the second half but didn't look at all comfortable in this role.

All in all, though, a nice day out for me, with fish and chips and a glimpse of sea before the game started, and the delight of being rewarded with watching a resounding win by our team.

TBF to Eastbourne they had two defenders substituted through injury in the first half and were still in the game at half time and as you say they really should have equalized just after half time.

I think as the game went on Eastbourne seemed to get more demoralized especially after our second goal and then the sending off.

As you say I think Lee Bradbury could be under some pressure and even more so after their visit to Bath next week.
