Reading Rebel
A loss and a draw last season so looking forward to the game and our first 3 points against St Albans in the NLS.
GlenSTFC
Problem is (and I’m sure I’m not alone thinking this) after 2 great wins and now 4 unbeaten, expectations naturally rise and I’d be disappointed if we didn’t beat St. Albans City tomorrow. Not expecting an easy game at all but feel we are now back to the Slough we have all come to love. Plus just the 3 players not available with Francis back on Tuesday. With 3 of the next 4 at home if we play with the same determination and desire as recently there’s no reason why we can’t extend our unbeaten run to 8. Irishadrian
There are no easy games but I think Glen is correct to be optimistic St Albans were promising great things pre season and although it's still early days they are 18th and have secured just 1 point on the road. GlenSTFC
I’m disappointed with a draw as we had plenty of chances to wrap that game up. I know they hit the post twice but Dan alone had 4 goal chances! Keep saying it but we really have to be mire clinical as we’re not always going to get the amount of chances we had today. We played well mixed in with some sloppy moments and feel a win would have been deserved this afternoon. Never mind another chance on Tuesday and fortunately we didn’t lose any ground on 7th place. Rebellier
I was surprised that the ref took a constant barrage of crap from their manager without going over and having a word! Allinson is a true gobshite.
HEAVY TRUCKER
overall i think it was a good performance today and yes we should have been a tad more clinical in front of goal, but i feel we are susceptible to a through ball through the middle of our defence its here i think a weakness lies , perhaps something to work on
Reading Rebel
Another game unbeaten but I thought St Albans were for the taking today and I've come away from the game disappointed not to have taken all three points. First half we played some very nice stuff through the middle of the park without that final ball or cutting edge and in the end we had to rely on another good strike by a midfielder in Matt Lench to break the deadlock. We started the second half on the front foot with 3 or 4 good chances going begging which should have given us that vital second goal which would have put the game to bed and in the end we conceded the obligatory soft goal to share the points. There might be a good reason i.e. injuries but I still think we should be playing with two strikers when we are at home especially against a side that are below us in the table. On a side note, I was impressed by the St Albans number 9 who looked a good player and a real live wire fortunately for most of the game he was starved of support. 3spirit
I, too, feel like it's two points dropped. While St Albans hit our woodwork twice, I never felt they were that much of a threat to Slough. Their 9 looked useful and I was impressed by their pacey sub [number 16] who gave us some problems and got St Albans going but I thought Slough should have been able to have to kill them off at home. Pretty much agreed with everything Unders said in his interview about the game and so haven't much more to add here. I did think first half Lee Togwell drifted too wide from Sam Togwell and Slough were very fortunate to get away with it after the St Albans number 9 burst through and outpaced Sam Togwell and hit his shot against the post but apart from that Slough pretty much had the best of the first half. We stroked the ball around well but were guilty of playing too many back passes when were better placed to go forward which irked me but least we were retaining the ball. To be honest first half felt like a training game, as St Albans offered little going forward and seemed to be sitting off us. Second half St Albans were more of a threat but for Slough I felt our players got complacent and took their foot off the gas and didn't do enough to win. Would have liked Joe Grant to have got more involved,as he made one terrific run through the middle but after that offered little and so we ended up missing Wazza's big time, when he was subbed. Know Joe is still young and learning but we needed more from him today than we got. For me Simon Dunn looked the obvious player to be subbed first but Scott Davies could have been withdrawn as he had started to tire. Simon had a fair game but looked rusty. He did plenty of running off the ball but on the ball offered little and his tackling was poor,so I wasn't surprised to see him replaced. Manny Williams came on too late to effect the game and Ben Harris did his usual diving act, that may of got us a penalty as it was one of his better claims but the referee who I thought was excellent, by the way, was not fooled. Ironically, our players worked harder for 90 minutes in boiling hot conditions in previous games but today in cooler conditions failed in the final 15 minutes to up their urgency/intensity and so Slough probably got what they deserved in the end, a draw rather than a win.Let's hope we get back on it for the full 90 against Hemel and it should be a bonus to have Francis Armartey back. Holyport Rebel
I've just watched the St. Albans manager's interview after the game, and for the second home game running the away manager's interview has been interrupted by a Slough fan making unnecessary and sometimes offensive comments. ( The same thing happened to the Bath City manager's interview,) I might be wrong but it sounded to me as though it was the same person. For this to happen once is bad enough . For two home games in a row I think this is a really bad show. If this happened to Bakes' or Unders' when they were trying to do an interview after an away match I would not think very much of the home team's fans for this sort of behaviour. I don't know what other Slough fans think but I find this totally unacceptable, and puts the club and the rest of us fans in a very poor light in the eyes of other teams. Agree but Slough as a club can't legislate for idiots. Maybe he thinks he's being funny[by playing to his cronies or an audience] or that he is someone who has been drinking too much, or maybe he's just a nutter but it does seem something that needs to be stopped,as it puts our club in a bad light. 3spirit
On the St Albans forum they mention our fan who interrupts the Ian Allinson interview and one of them mentions about our code of conduct that is in our programme, not working here! Whoever the Slough fan is, it sounds like he's had a few to drink and it will be nigh on impossible to stop someone acting on their own accord unless you have a designated area for manager interviews, with stewards stopping fans going near. Just watched the Ian Allinson and the Jerry Gill interview and it's impossible to tell whether it's the same fan barracking the managers. Sounds like it's a drink fuelled person in both situations, though, as Jerry Gill keeps looking up towards the bar area and the fan comes down the steps from the bar area in the Ian Allinson clip. Probably just high jinks/boozy banter from the Slough fan/s more than anything malicious but not very good for furthering Slough's image as a friendly, welcoming club, and as you say, Holyport Rebel, will need to be addressed somehow. HorshamRebel
When it happens again, they just have to turn the camera on that person. They can cut that footage from the public, but then have footage to take the matter forward with whoever it is, once sent to ST.

rebelade
We know who this person is and the club will be setting up a press area away from the public for future games. As for the referee I have to disagree, didn’t apply new rules correctly and failed to stamp any authority but he was equally bad to both sides so at least he was consistent
Neil Baker
On the referee when he played an advantage when it hit him and went to them, that was correct, Ian Allinson was at the same meeting we were, and the rule is if it hits him and the team who had it lose an advantage or the ball then he will stop play and drop it, in that instance it hit him, fell to them and they were on the break, was the right decision. Radders
Have to be honest Neil, I hadn’t heard that law, I thought it was any time it hit the ref if was a pause in play so I’ve learnt something new there. Thanks.
Reading Rebel
Just watched the video and I think it confirms that from a defensive point of view it was really poor goal for us to concede.

As for the new rules, I get peed off with the tinkering of all these rules, which seem to lead to more confusion rather than making the game of football any better, so in all honesty I usually listen to what Unders and Bakes and Trent say in the dugout to refs and linesmen before I ever say anything on rules. In other words, I just stick to the basic laws of game and let someone else argue about the finer technicalities ! ha ha!
