Ampthill Town Development lock horns with, Cranfield United Reserves, Totternhoe Reserves and The 61 FC (Luton) Reserves in Division One Group 2D of the Bedfordshire County League supplementary cup competition

The WycombeWanderer was at Lawrence Park on Wednesday evening (28 April), home of Sunday League side Queensmen FC and close to Ampthill Park, where Ampthill Town Development took on The 61 FC Reserves in a Bedfordshire County League supplementary cup group fixture and gives a very interesting account of his visit. Ampthill Town Development won 4-0:

Ampthill Town Development 4-0 The 61 FC Reserves
Beds County League Supplementary Cup
Attendance: 22 at Lawrence Park (Queensmen FC)
A rare opportunity to visit Lawrence Park for a non-Sunday game came up and I was keen to go. However, without my normal hoppers to help out with fuel and keep me company, plus all the wind and rain, I would have given any other game the elbow. As it was, I stayed dry in the large stand and it was a decent contest - with the 'hosts' winning 4-0, their number 10 looking especially decent. More on my blog below.

A very Happy Birthday to Ampthill Town supremo Lee Hawkes today who, incredibly, is just 24 years of age, if ever there was someone going places in the game it's Lee:

Lines ups from Ampthill Town v Vauxhall Motors in a 1973/74 Bedfordshire FA Senior Cup First Round Replay, at Ampthill Park on Saturday 27 October 1973, Vauxhall Motors won 1-0 following a 2-2 draw. Very sadly a number of the Ampthill Town players have now passed away:

I see that Ampthill Town's Independent Supporters Association have produced a Blog for the Club, it's still in it's infancy however promises to be interesting on all things Ampthill Town and 'owner' Tyler Freeman appears to be in the AlwaysLeighton mould, a young guy as keen as mustard about his local Non League Club which is refreshing to see:

The final Episode of the excellent Ampthill Town Podcast, entitled 'The Ampthill Army', with the Club's midfield General Ed Skinner, as usual it's a good listen. The Podcast will return at the start of next season when Ampthill Town will be hoping for a successful campaign under Lee Hawkes:

The Ampthill Town Podcast, entitled 'The Ampthill Army', is back after a short break and as usual it's a good listen although I can't understand why they have obscure guests on, such as Bristol City's Tyreeq Bakinson, who have no connection with the SSML. What's wrong with their own players who would be far more interesting such as Ed Skinner, Tom Beasley, Danny Butler and Will Barrett recently as well as Head Coach Martin Powell and the Club's 'chief cook and bottle washer' Roger Butler:

Sincere apologies folks but it's him again I'm afraid, the Groundhopping FC guy who was in attendance at Ampthill Park on Tuesday evening for the Ampthill Town v Eastleigh FC Development pre-season friendly which Eastleigh disappointingly won 5-1. The first period was literally men against boys but in reverse and made the Alamo seem tame in comparison, Lee Hawkes's side had no answer whatsoever to a lively young attack with sublime skills however despite embarrassingly trailing 5-0 at the interval it was a much better and encouraging second half display although Eastleigh did take their foot off the gas:
