Worthing 2-0 Slough Town

Three season ago he was at Farnborough Town and got released. Then he went to Windsor & Eton and got released. He went to Hampton & Richmond and guess what......got released! Would you not think there might be a reason for that?

SHUT IT! Matt, as the other Matt said earlier, you would have enjoyed the absolutely hammered Wolves/Worthing fan who couldn't believe that we had a Miller in our team. He was in his element. Apart from that, I think you made the right decision to work yesterday rather than watch that pile of tripe (AGAIN).

hi staines rebel and all dave here. agree we need men to pump forword and be better up the back. we need this for pride and not hide as if we do maidenhead will like worthing get the the quick goals and never look back with the fact the other team score twice first and are head goes down twice and lose any good play we have. we must this time take any early chances and turn them into goals and then the boot is on the other foot. if the passing is bad and we keep losesing posetion we will allways be in trouble. however if we pass and get moves through to people like miller and boot properly and finnish great as sometimes we have been known to well against most of the weeker teams and rearly should have had two or three against hampton one of the big clubs and maybe if the extra chances went in we would have been allright.

cheers disapointed dave programes. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/alert.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/angel.gif" alt="" />

On current form we look like we'd be doing well to avoid finishing in the bottom six never mind challenging for a top six position. I believe we may have the quality of player to do well but the belief amongst them isn't there - we concede too many sloppy goals ie the first yesterday, look very one dimensional going forward and lack creativity in midfield. The crossing from the flanks was breath takingly bad - why is Steer not the first name on the team sheet ? As for Riddell - poor but then the records I have of him are as a centre forward not a right back. Its like watching a team of mates play - Denton must make some harsh decisions soon - ship some players out and bring in some experienced campaigners used to grinding out 1-0 and 2-1 results. I don't often post on here but yesterday was on of the lowest moments I've had in 17 years of watching the Rebels (and that really is saying something !)

Finally, I would urge Eddie to use Tuesday as a Capital League game - absolutely no point in Hodge or Haddow being risked when the likes of Reading cannot even be bothered to field a side (other county competitions have compulsory entry)

phew - glad I got that off my chest.

I would say that we have enough experienced campaigners at the club already and should be looking at developing local youth talent through the reserve side which needs to be more settled if it's ever going to benefit us. (I don't think many players are around for more than one game)

Riddell played his part for the team and was out of position. Fans reaction reminded me of when Junior Kadi played for the club who went on to do very well at both Dulwich and Lewes. He was hounded out after a poor debut and second appearance with his confidence already shot by the crowd. I hope Riddell doesn't go the same way.

I would like to see some fresh additions to the squad, but only bringing in players who are good enough for the starting eleven. A right back, pacy centre back and some quality in midfield - preferably a pacy winger, are a must. Williams has been the biggest disappointment in terms of the management getting the wrong players in. He should never have come back, and I can only hope Freddie is able to return to action soon. Where was he on Saturday?? At least he would have tried shooting and his long throws would be an added dimension to the attack.

As for the B&B Cup, it is compulsary entry, but Reading got fined I believe for not entering. A meagre £1,000 I think, but even them fielding a youth side would be enough to make the final four. As for Maidenhead, having spoken with their programme editor on email on Friday, they are in a similar position to us. Very inconsistent, they have a team of 16 or 17 rather than a squad and on their day they are as good as anyone. To avoid being embarrassed, we'll need to put out a strong side not that it will be much of a match though whatever side we put out the way we have been playing. I would like to see us give it a good go though and see if we can win it, I just can't see us winning at York Road - why change the habit of a lifetime!

I only got on Riddell's back after he showed himself to be inept at right back. Perhaps I should have had a go at Eddie for picking him in the first place and then for persisting with him for so long in the game. I spotted after ten munutes he wasn't up to the job as I am sure the worthing management and players did. Riddell was certainly at failt for the second goal when he should have done much better to cut out the cross.

I don't want to hound him out of the club, perhaps he will show himself to be more useful in another position. Having said that, he found himself in a great position on the right wing with players queuing up for a cross. He hoofed the ball straight out of play. Perhaps not a midfielder either then.

Whilst none of the players performed to their best yesterday, I am sorry but he was stand out bad.

Of course you are only as good as your last match. So at kick off against maidenhead he has more or less a clean slate. I will wonder why he is in the team and will not tolerate the same level of ineptitude. Let's hope he proves me wrong.

If B+B is compulsory entry then why have Wimbledon a la MK Dons not entered ? - creating a senior trophy in a small FA county competition has made this pot even more tedious than it was before. I stand by my comment earlier - we simply cannot risk injury to any regular starting XI player.

In hindsight, I would have preferred to see Rav given a shot. At least it guarentees 100% determination from the lad, something which a fair few of the others could learn a thing or two from.

Here, here - same goes for Ely Bakishan in my opinion.

Two things regarding the anonymous post above. Firstly, I would imagine MK Dons weren't invited as they weren't sure to be moving across to Bucks. I would hope this is rectified for next years competition. They certainly didn't start the campaign there and I would imagine that has something to do with it. Secondly, we don't really have an opportunity to rest our first team squad. We simply don't have enough players at the club. I'm in split minds about it as I'd love to see us win it, but at the same time I can appreciate finishing top six is vital this season especially if the restructure does go ahead at the end of the year.

Another game, another defeat.

Once again our great travelling support is let down by an inept team performance, that with the exception of brief sparkling moments from Alex Haddow, was desperately short of ideas.

I'm just glad that this match was a rare occasion that permitted me to drink beer and be merry, rather than drive home after another miserable away fixture.

As there wasn't much in football terms to comment about, I just want to say well done to everybody who made noise on Saturday and kept up the supporters end of the bargain. Worthing may be getting the people through the gate but we made a greater din. Keep it up.

The programme says that Elias is a player who can break quickly and can play on the wing. OK, so I haven't seen him play much, and he's not very experienced, but isn't a winger what we need now? I agree with Ian, why not give it a shot.

No, sorry. Seeing both in reserve games and the odd first team outing, there are clear sighn's that they can't cut it at this level. Both have little skill and no idea of how to play decent football, the same applys to Mark Bartley. These guys are only around to make up the numbers.

BFR

BFR that's what i've been doing all season - and it certaintly improves the enjoyment of the game, if not always the train journey home as i sober up at clapham junction or east croydon. Why doesn't the coach ever stay for an after match pint?

That's what I've written about him Matt! In all honesty, as with a lot of other reserves, I don't think he's ready for the step up. He has the potential to do well in the last 15 minutes of a game when the opposition is tired, but has the knack of holding onto the ball for a touch too long. Certainly one who continues to improve though so is well worth having around.

As for Saturday, why not drop the Crab, play Alex in the middle for the creative influence he has and Steer on the left flank to provide the crosses for Hodges and Miller?
