v Concord

RR  I'm  sure you're  correct  but are you expecting any easy games in this league this season?

Concord are obviously fired up with 2 victories and a 1000+ crowd at their first home game ( I'm sure the proximity of their opponents helped)

We've lost twice but by the lowest possible margin both times and wasted enough chances to have won both imo

We've  also had the worst run of bad luck and injuries since Jon/Neil  joined  That cant be planned for just reacted to

I wonder if Neil/Jon are able to update us on the injuries

Anyway I dont believe we'll be pointless by Saturday evening!

Although it’s only 2 matches in fairness I didn’t expect Concord Rangers to have won both. They’ve had a massive squad overhaul and from the looks of it signed a few lower league players. I don’t expect them to stay near the top but it’ll still be a hard task with our current situation. Obviously great to have Wells back but he’s not played for a few weeks so may be a little rusty but expect him to start on Saturday. I would think we’d sign another central defender to play alongside Armsworth. I thinks it vital even at this early stage we got some points on Saturday and a draw would be a decent point all things considered.

Of course there will be no easy games but given our current situation and Concords current fine form I expect this game to be particularly difficult to get anything from.

It's been discussed before and is a matter of opinion but my opinion and people I've spoken to agree that although we had chances against Dorking they ran out deserved winners on the day.

Of course I hope you're right and we come away with something but it goes without saying that it's going to take a monumental effort to get anything from the Concord game.

Hopefully we've secured a couple of new players via loan signings. Be nice to think we have got National League centre half but that's optimistic given that it is only three weeks into the season.

This is my team for Concord if we haven't signed anyone, a 3-5-2 of

                                                                   Turner

                                           Armsworth  L.Togwell [sweeper]  Bird

W.Harris[ RWB]   Lench    Davies    Worsfold     Wells [LWB]

                                                         Armartey    B.Harris

Subs: Williams, Trinovas, ?,  ?, ?

Guest Wycombe Rebel

I'd go...

Turner

L Togwell Bird Wells

W Harris Lench Davies Worsfold

B Harris Williams Amartey

Williams to drop into the hole and add the extra man in midfield when needed...

Surely if Armsworth is a central defender he has to start tomorrow otherwise it’s bit of an insult to him. Sure he has limited experience at this level but he’s got to learn somewhere and has to be a better option than Lee Togwell who isn’t tall for a start and is much more effective in his natural positions. I’d go for a back 3 of Wells, Bird and Armsworth. 5 in midfield of Warren Harris, Togwell, Lench, Davies, Worsfold. Amartey and Ben Harris up top.

Can’t disagree with what you’re saying Glen, but Scott made his senior debut on Tuesday I think. In my opinion he’d be better getting experience alongside Sam Togwell etc when our backs aren’t against the wall. I’d go with experience. As for Lee Togwell, although he isn’t tall, he jumps like a kangaroo and is great in the air. He can play anywhere and do a job.

Whatever the team, I still think we’ve got enough to win the game.

If we had full squad availability, Scott probably wouldn’t be in the starting 11 with Sam Togwell, Nisbet and Hollis ahead of him. So this is a great chance for him to shine and gain that valuable experience. Ok if it goes horribly wrong for him then we can shift around but you’ve got to give him a chance otherwise why have him here and as I said imagine how he’d feel with all these defenders out and he still doesn’t get a chance!

You aren’t wrong Glen. It all depends on what his expectations are really, was he signed as a squad player who would be given game time when the time is right or was he expected to be thrown in like any other player. I’m sure he’d understand the reasons if he didn’t play, all about man management. My opinion of course is irrelevant as Bakes and Unders know far more than me and will know if he has the maturity and ability.

I'm a believer that young players will only get better by playing games. They don't learn anything sitting on the bench. It would be better to test him out sooner rather than later IMO.

Agreed, but pick the games they play.

Well, I would pick him for tomorrow, as we are short of players and for me tomorrow's game isn't that important. Be good if we can get something from the game but not the end of our season if we don't.

I think the game is very important after two defeats, but as I said to Glen, I dont disagree with you either. If Scott Armsworth plays, all the best to him and I hope he’s man of the match, just a different opinion on what team I’d pick. I’d get as much experience on the pitch as we can tomorrow. Still confident that any 11 we put out can get a win.

I think tomorrow's game is very important.

Maybe not in relation to the fact that it's only the third game of the season but still important to build some confidence going into the Weymouth game.
