Hungerford v Slough

Looks like we've had no luck tonight, and worryingly Guy Hollis had to hobble off. Let's hope his injury is not too bad.

Last season we had great luck with injuries, this season looks like we are cursed!

Good lad, Guy, hope he's alright.

What was the game like, Rebelsry or anyone?

Very flat first half I thought, disrupted by the 2 injuries (Simon Dunn looked really disappointed, suggests it might be quite serious too). Second half was a lot better, we dominated but just didn't really create anything clear cut. Hopefully we can build on the second half performance on Saturday.

I think we might be in the market for a centre half before the weekend though as Sam Togwell, Mark Nisbet and now probably Guy Hollis will be missing!

The proverbial game of 2 halves.

Monsoon to start the match, followed by an uncharacteristic howler from Jack for the only goal. He redeemed himself though with a couple of good saves.

We never really got going in the first half, not helped by 2 bad injuries, we were lucky to go in just 1 behind.

Second half we dominated, without really testing their keeper, but their defence held firm.

I thought Lenchy was outstanding, Bird was quiet, Worsfold was solid, and Amartey a real nuisance to their rightback.

Crazy noise from the faithful especially 2nd half after a personal request from Unders at half time!

Well having seen two games now it’s clear that we seem to be in something of a transition. We look like that mid season team from last year after Dobbo left and before Francis came. With Dobbo it was always get it left by air or land . When Francis came it was early over the top to utilise his pace . Now it seems the players are not sure what plan A is . So we don’t always look comfortable with the ball .

It is also very ‘Tough to have the injuries on top of the missing players .

positives :- thought Francis was great first half down the middle but wasted when sent out wide second half . Lench was immense again really putting in a shift(  but  would he be even more effective wide left like last season end ? )  Scotty added some class when he came on.

Like every other fan, I’ve got my opinions on what we need to do but I’ll trust the managers as they have got it right before.

I know its only been a couple of games but who would have thought Concord and Dorking would be in the first two places ? On Saturday Hungerford were beaten 4-1 by Hemel Hempstead who lost tonight to Dorking  perhaps Dorking may be one of this seasons surprises

Poor first half where Hungerford were the better side and we just couldn't get going.

Second half was better but few chances created and still no cutting edge.

Agree about Lenchy having another terrific game but one player can't do it all.

Interesting that Stan say's we look like a team in transition.

Hard to disagree with him but we have only made a couple of changes from last season so not sure why we look like a team in transition.

Only a couple of changes.

3 of last seasons defence missing, plus further injuries. Not the sort of transition the gaffers planned for.

Totally agree, Banny. If we had a full squad to choose from, we are just as likely to have won both games.

Just to put in to context the defensive issue. Last season we played 55 league and cup games with 6 defenders in the squad. Our 7th defender Smarty spent the whole season out on dual reg as we didn’t need him.

On Saturday in our 3rd game of the season we are likely to be missing 5 of those 6 defenders. Impossible to predict and to plan for.

No excuses for other parts of our game not being where it should be and the fact we haven’t scored yet (particularly last night having spent most of the 2nd half in and around their box) is inexcusable.

Thank you to those who got behind us last  night, the support was superb..

We have come through sticky spells before and we will do again. Stay positive everyone.

For those in attendance it sounds like it was a very frustrating night for Slough, whatever way you look at it.

Defensively there are plenty of reasons to fall back on but as the after match interview indicates attack wise we are currently falling well short.

Have to agree RR  but I'd  be more concerned if we were not creating any convertible chances I've not been at either game which is why I've  not commented much but spoke this morning to someone who has been at both and he says we wasted enough comfortable chances in both games to  have won them   Early days yet  and no need for undue concern imo

Looks a right cock up but every keeper drops a clanger now and again. I don't blame Jack however, as he has won Slough more games than he has ever cost us.

You never know, but it is still very early days !!  Marc White has bought them up through the ranks, (leagues), in very quick time.
