The North Bedfordshire Charity Cup gets under way this evening with Langford hosting holders Biggleswade FC at Forde Park. Biggleswade FC lifted the trophy last season (see report) beating Ampthill Town 5-1 at McMullen Park having beaten Bedford 5-0 and Biggleswade United 3-0 in previous rounds so clearly they take this competition seriously and will be keen to retain it this term:

I see that, as predicted, Biggleswade FC came away from Forde Park on Tuesday evening with a 2-1 victory and will now travel to either Bedford or Ampthill Town in the Semi Final of the competition:

Bedford and Ampthill Town lock horns at McMullen Park this evening for a place in the North Bedfordshire Charity Cup Semi Finals. Bedford travelled to Ampthill Park just before Christmas and took all three points in a tight 1-0 win. Ampthill Town won 3-1 at McMullen Park in only the first week of the campaign when they were still fully expected to challenge for promotion, the season has turned out to be somewhat of a damp squib for the Club which has also seen the departure of Paul Blackman:

The games have been coming thick and fast for Potton United lately and this may well be a bridge too far for them:

Biggleswade United entertain BetVictor Southern League Division One Central Barton Rovers tomorrow evening in a North Bedfordshie Charity Cup Semi Final tie, I checked to see whether the match programme had already been produced and unsurprisingly it had:

What a result for Biggleswade United this evening against their Step Four opponents and they progress to the Final of the North Bedfordshire Charity Cup Final where they will meet Bedford or Biggleswade FC. Biggleswade United led 1-0 at the break with an Alie Bangura goal on 32 minutes and he struck again on 51 minutes to make it 2-0. To Barton Rovers credit they were back in the game on 54 minutes and level with just over ten minutes remaining however almost immediately it was that man again, Alie Bangura, to complete an incredible hat trick when ghosting in, Martin Peters style, un-noticed at the far post to put the ball away. Barton Rovers still carried a threat to the bitter end but Biggleswade United bravely held out, Bangura was surprisingly substituted with minutes remaining just before Rovers came very close to equalising and he would have then had to sit out the extra half an hour:

Here we go folks, a post match interview with Biggleswade United's man of the moment Alie Bangura following his superb hat trick against Barton Rovers on Tuesday evening to send his side through to the North Bedfordshire Charity Cup Final:

An update on the North Bedfordshire Charity Cup for what it's worth, do we know where the Final would have been played, I gather it's usually a neutral venue. The tie of the competition was clearly the Semi Final at Second Meadow on Tuesday 3 March between Biggleswade United and Barton Rovers, shortly before the curtain came crashing down on the season, a superb Alie Bangura hat trick on 32, 51 and 82 minutes put the BetVictor Southern League Division One Central outfit to the sword and put his side into the Final against Bedford or Biggleswade FC who had yet to meet in their Semi Final tie at McMullen Park:

Bedford 3 Ampthill Town 0
Langford 1 Biggleswade FC 2
