Slough v Bournemouth under 21's

What the lad from Saturday? If so he is an American lad who is over currently, and we were just taking a look at him for Fulham which also did us a favour with no Sam or Josh, we were due to have a defender play tonight who has just been released from Fulham, however he has had to pull out this morning as he has got tonsillitis, but should hopefully be about at the weekend.

It was my first friendly last night.

Dan has got a lot stronger on the ball over the closed season, and had no worries about taking people on.

He's definitely come on a lot since the end of last season, and in a conversation with someone, we both agreed he will be making a lot more starts, or longer "super sub" appearances.

If he continues with his off field fitness work, he's going places.

Hopefully Bournemouth weren't too impressed with him.

I can't comment too much as I haven't seen a game yet but it sounds like Dan Roberts is really giving our managers a nice headache with his performances so far :)

I thought you put on social media you were going last night Mark?

Dan Roberts for me has done well so far but he's obviously not a center forward/target man.

Like most of our forwards so far, they need to start being more clinical when the chances come.

We have 3 games to go in pre season against lesser opposition so hopefully things will come right.

Love to know your reasoning why Dan is not a centre forward RR?? granted he is not a target man.... but he is certainly a centre forward.... only a fabulous save yesterday stopped him scoring last night (and one where I would have backed him to score), which could have been 2/3 goals in 135 minutes of football, one thing to remember (and I think people do tend to forget) we have over 3 games played sides better than what we will face this season, all of which are full time teams, also the strikers have only had 45 minutes each game to do something, this will start to ramp up over the next 4 games (including behind closer doors game next week), and thus enables them to get into a groove.

Pre season I repeat is about doing the right thing for the the squad and getting them where we hope they will be, this involves different formations, trying things out and wholesale changes which often can upset the rhythm of a game.

Sam Togwell looked in peak condition, you couldn't tell he had been away. What is it with players these days, all coming back fit as a fiddle?

I miss the old days when players came back, way overweight and out of shape, and used to spend friendlies blowing out their ars*s trying to keep up !    That was the fun of watching friendlies! ha ha ha!

Last night's game was a good run out for our players. The first half I enjoyed more than the second, as our team seemed more together in taking the game to Bournemouth, with Dan Roberts looking particularly lively, and Sam Togwell and Guy Hollis giving committed performances. Thought Matt Briggs got more involved this week and was a willing enough body who didn't shirk his duties.

The game had the feel of a training game but Bournemouth certainly worked our players, as none of them were slouches and kept our team on their toes for most of the game.

Onto the next one.

That's why I put center forward/target man meaning he's relatively slight built and wouldn't win too many balls lumped in the air to him.

I think you are being a bit unfair there RR. Having watched Dan for the Rebels last year and also quite a few times for Windsor, he is actually extremely good in the air and I suspect will win plenty of headers against defenders in our league.

SF, obviously I saw Dan play for us last season but if you've also seen him play quite a bit for Windsor and you rate him as extremely good in the air, I'm more than happy to bow to your superior knowledge.
