Yes, see what you mean, makes more sense.

Just read it as meaning both 'Arbour Park and Lynch Hill Academy after 7.15.

Lynch Hill will be open from 18:30 or before, it’s Arbour Park that will be available a bit later, at 19:15. Apologies for any confusion.

As far as first friendly matches go, tonight's one was one of the better matches I've seen. Good workout for both sides, plenty of good interplay and movement, and some well worked goals, a debut goal for Max Worsford, a well taken shot by unlikely scorer Mark Nisbet from a corner cross by Matt Lench, and the best goal out of our three, that of Dan Robert's lovely header getting on the end of a peach of a cross by Wazza.

Of the new players on show for Slough tonight, thought Joe Grant looked particularly lively for the first 25, and Max Worsford grew into the game and looked the part by half time. Liked what I saw from Max and Joe.

Matt Briggs came on second half and played in a central role but failed to live up to the long awaited anticipation that had been hyped up beforehand on the forum. Very early days for him, though, and hard to judge what he is about on this small cameo. Ryan Bird tried to get involved but not much come off for him. Adam Richards I thought did ok and would give him a few more run outs to see what we can get from him.

Of our regular players, most looked sharp and very fit considering that is our first match back.Looking forward to the Sutton match now.

Thoroughly enjoyable first pre season game for the rebels matching NL Eastleigh for large parts of the game.

I thought all the trialists did well for their first game in a Slough shirt.

I was surprised to see Matt Briggs as our 'mystery trialist' being that he was superb for Dorking last season and was on trial at Northampton.

I'll be even more surprised if we can get him to sign for us.

Having not seen Matt Briggs play before, I don't just go by reputation to see if he is any good. Last nights effort from him was a damp squib and he looked out of sorts and rather disinterested but I won't judge him on this, as it could be he's a tad rusty from football, not used to his team mates yet, felt a bit detached from our team in general, and wasn't at ease in the position Bakes and Unders placed him in.

If we go by reputation and the rumour mill, we might have struck gold but one never knows, as some players turn into duds overnight when playing in a different team. Colin Fielder, anyone?

For his first 45 minutes for us in what was probably an unusual position for him I though Matt Briggs did ok. As you go on to say far too early to judge any player at this stage in pre-season.

I'd love for us to sign him because I think he'll be a great asset but I can think of several reasons why I just can't see it happening.

He certainly had a great season just gone and seemed very highly rated but yeah hopefully just a little rusty. Interesting cryptic comments from Neil stating there were 1 or 2 negatives last night ?

When have you seen him play, RR?

As far as I know I've never seen him play unless he played all those years back when Slough played at Dorking in the FA Cup, as I went to that game. Bakes and Unders must know him to be a good player otherwise they wouldn't have invited him down. I get that but I don't just accept that he is this world beater on the strength that he has had a failed trial for Northampton, or that he was Dorking's player of the year in 1833 ! ?

Never seen him play live but there are obviously videos of him playing.

Purely on the fact that Dorking rate him very highly and over the last couple of seasons several league clubs have shown an interest in him.

As has been said before you don't have to have seen a player play to know that he is a good player.

But as we all know, and you've quoted Colin Fielder, reputation is no guarantee that he will be a success at a different club.

Exactly, so why say he will be a great asset when he has only had 45 lacklustre minutes in a Slough shirt. For me it's not what he does for other clubs, it's more about what he does for our club.

I am being a bit pernickty in this matter today, as we all favour experienced, exciting, quality footballers in our ranks but as I say I prefer to see for myself how good a player is before I lavish praise onto a player I do not know. Take last night for instance, I was as impressed by our stalwarts Guy Hollis, Wazza, Nis and Matt Lench and our two younger players Francis Amartey and Dan Roberts as much as anyone, so it isn't always about reputable players brought in.

It might seem a bit over the top saying that I think Matt Briggs will be a great asset for Slough based on his reputation but I'd rather be positive and up beat about any potential signing until proven otherwise.

You're obviously entitled to give your opinion 3spirit but personally I'd rather wait a few games (if it ever comes to that) and review my opinion on him then rather than after 45 minutes.
