If I ever had a second non league team it would be St Albans. I used to watch them whilst away from Slough at University, which was at the time of the controversy about that tree in their ground! I will never forget us signing Ansil Bushay from them, who I thought would lead us to league football on the basis of his performances for the Saints. Sadly not, but I fondly remember the "Ansil on the keeper" chant.

It's absolutely the biggest away day on my own calendar but I would be willing to participate in any fan's boycott arranged by Reading Rebel, 3Spirit and Glenn.

COYR!

SM, I wouldn't say don't go to the game because that would penalise our away support for the team, just don't buy any food, drinks etc. within the ground.

Did any Slough fan mentioned the word boycott? But I hope the St. Albans fans do take a stand as it’s outrageous what their owners are doing. I’d be concerned on their business acumen if they feel this is a good move... wouldn’t be surprised to see them back track and reduce prices which would make them a joke.

As long as people just keep turning up regardless, the more clubs will try this sort of shit with fans.

You need to maybe look at it from the St Albans FC side as well.... they have averaged losses of about £100k a year for the last three years.

Do one or two owners keep funding that? Or do they cut the playing budget & risk not being competitive? Or do they increase ticket prices and try to share the burden of the shortfall with the fan base?

No fleecing the fans should be the last option. Look for new investment, promote the club, use your business contacts and experience! If after 3 years of trying all that comes to nothing, yes you then cut your cloth accordingly and if that means mid table or below mediocrity then do be it until the situation changes.

Don't know why you've brought me into this debate, SM, as I haven't mentioned anything about it !

Does seem an over the top entrance fee, though.

Yes, I remember the listed oak trees and of course Ansil Bushay. Also another one good thing about the town of St Albans, is it's the home of CAMRA, so you can find good pints of real beer in many of the drinking establishments in the town.

St Albans have announced their match day prices:

Adult 18 - £16.50 in advance

Concessions £12 - £11 in advance.

FA cup proper rounds £20 - £18 in advance

Another club ripping supporters off.

That's shocking in my opinion.

Seems like an attempt to sell more season tickets  £12 per match with a season

Campaign has begun by their supporters to boycott the first home game of the season and possibly to continue doing so if there isn't a rethink

Nah not overly interested in friendlies, can be difficult to watch when there’s no competitive edge.

Of course there's a competitive edge, players are playing for their places.

Personally, I like watching friendlies to see how the new signings and the team are shaping up.

Ok they are not league games but I don't think there is such a thing as a friendly. All players should/will want to win any game of football.

Yes of course players want to impress but friendlies are there to try out tactics, get fit and players used to each other. No friendly would ever come close to competitive league and cup games.

Correct, but even though they are friendlies as in all games there will still be a competitive edge.

Planning to attend the Hayes & Yeading friendly, would I be able to buy a season ticket (cash) from anyone there (that’s a Slough one before any wit pipes up!).

You could track down Mike if he's attending the match, and hand him the cash there (but I don't know if he is, so perhaps Kay, John etc.)

If you could download, complete and submit the application form ahead of time, Mike could print your season ticket and hand it to you when you cough up.
