Surely a man of your vintage should be wearing a Kenny Dalgleish, Kevin Keegan or Ian Rush shirt ?

"Which was the first football club to sell merchandise/replica kits etc? Although they were not the first, as far as I know Tottenham Hotspur were a pioneering club in this regard. In about 1984 (I think) their chairman, Irving Scholar, decided to float the club. He realised that one way of making money for the club and keep it financially bouyant was by focusing on merchandising to a greater degree than any club had before. The effects of clubs following suit are evident at Manchester United." Michael Owen played for Liverpool from 1996 to 2004; Roger Hunt 1958-1969; Ron Yates 1961-1971; Kevin Keegan 1971-1977; Ian Rush 1980-1987 and Kenny Dalglish 1977-1990. I do remember them all vividly of course!
