Looking at this season’s line up, there’s only 4 clubs who I don’t think will challenge for the top 7. We will do well to better last season’s effort which is no negative.

As it stands I would put Hungerford and Tonbridge as the two most likely to struggle.

Then it's down to what players clubs like Hampton, Hemel, Concord, Dorking and Weymouth sign.

Albeit alphabetically, the top 8 could easily be the top 8 next season (not necessarily in that order).

I think that the bottom 7 in alphabetical order will give the top 8 a run for their money. I predict that the title will be won by a bottom 7 in alphabetical order club.

A bit like picking your lucky numbers for the National Lottery in my book !

Seems to be an outside chance that Oxford could stay in the South which would please some.

Mind you not sure how it would work with Oxford currently signing players to play in the North.

All to be decided at the AGM in early June.

Alternative is Aldershot get a reprieve stay in National League and Truro retain their place in NLS. Would prefer the Oxford option.

Sounds like some of the teams in the Conference South are drawing in the purse strings.

Wealdstone don't seem to have the budget they had last year. St Albans are recruiting from the level below.Hemel are rebuilding. Concord have released a lot of players. Billericay have yet to splash the cash and Hampton have had their budget slashed. Is this going to be a coming trend?

Due to managerial changes some clubs are having to re-build their squads.

Add in the fact that some clubs have announced budget cuts this won't be easy and in particular Concord's recruitment so far has in the main come from lower divisions.

Of course this is easier said than done but if everything falls into place I think this gives us the perfect opportunity to take full advantage of all this uncertainty to push on and get into the play-offs.

But there are plenty of others who are  going for it.....

Personally think this will be the toughest league for years, and that is even if Aldershot get their reprieve.

I thought that about a month or so ago, Neil but now I'm not so sure. Quite a lot of teams seem to be rebuilding their squads and are therefore unknown quantities. I wouldn't say it's going to be harder than last season but I wouldn't say it's going to be any easier either !

The good thing is the majority of our squad know what it takes to win games at this level, and now we have that first season under their belt, so this should stand us in good stead for the next campaign but it is that tricky second season, when things don't always run according to plan. For me if we can finish higher than 15th place I'd be happy. Yes, of course we should be aiming for the play-offs, as we're capable of it but I won't be counting my chickens for that to be a cert. I'm just looking for Slough to become an established regular team in the Conference South over a few seasons, to ready us to go for promotion.

Agree that we've got to be wary of 'second season syndrome' as Maidenhead found out which very nearly saw them in the relegation zone until they made a very late recovery.

I think I'd be disappointed if we finished 15th which I suppose is only natural after our debut season in the NLS.

As I've said before I can't see any reason why we wouldn't be ready for promotion to the NL whether it's next season or the season after.

It’s a tricky one this coming season... we were minutes/a goal away from making 7th place but ended 11th. If Truro are reprieved which looks likely I can only see 5 teams not in the PO mix so to better last season will be difficult but a few clubs are going through transition periods so that may work in our favour. Obviously no one knows until we start playing and I can’t wait for another exciting season and visiting new grounds.
