Max Worsfold is an excellent signing.

Well done to Bakes and Unders for getting this one over the line.

Welcome to the Rebels Max!

Have you seen him play then, RR?

I've seen his name written down and I've seen Maidenhead and Staines on the odd occasion over the last few seasons but I can't recall seeing him.

I like the fact [written about him] that he is a tenacious left sided player [George Wells could do with some help] and it seems he has plenty of experience but I'll reserve judgement till I've seen what he can do.

Certainly reads like a good signing but so did Louis Soares. Unfortunately it never quite happened for Louis at Slough but I wish him and Nathan Smart all the best at their new clubs. Sometimes it's not about how good a player is, it's more about can they fit into the system the team plays, and can they up the ante when they get the opportunity to play. Nathan did do that to a certain extent but Louis didn't seem to grasp the chances that came his way. He was always going to have his work cut out to oust Wazza from the starting line up but Louis's form was sporadic at best. Age catches up with everyone [apart from Manny ! ha ha].

On Nathan and Louis I would think both players will get snapped up easy enough, more likely at Southern/Bostik Premier division level.

Though, Hungerford may take another chance again on Louis. At Hungerford, Louis may get more of a chance to star in the show, at Slough he hasn't.

I would presume Nathan would stay with Hartley where he’s been all season and made captain. Louis could do a job at a club a league or two lower given his age. I’ve not seen Max play but you don’t really need to as you just need to read his history and you can a good idea. I would guess he’ll play as a winger although I’m sure he can play central too. With him and Wazza on the wings with Lench and Baby Togs in the middle that’s quite an enticing midfield. Up front we could well have 5 forwards which could be tricky keeping them all happy!

"Baby" Togs - you gonna call him that to his face then? ??

for me Lee is just Togs because he was here first and won our hearts and Sam is either Sam Togs or Togs2. Anyone know what the players call them?

I think Louis played one of his best games for the Rebels on Monday - just a little too late I guess. His awareness in the build up to Josh's goal was great and he put Ben through well for the penalty.

Now we've signed Worsfold, wonder if we'll go in for Dobbo now he's been transfer listed?

Not at this time, however you can never say never in football,  however he has tried to step up and will be looking to stay at the level no doubt, we also have a budget and Lench was in effect replacement for Dobbo, and Max for Louie.

Thanks Neil... How many more additions do you envision?

Current squad is 16 players, this includes Max... I'd love to see Billy Clifford come back...

Can't help but think that Francis might want to try to step up again!

I agree, I thought he played well Monday but through the season he didn't do enough to cement his place in our team, and as a substitute wasn't effective enough.

Apart from Monday, I thought pre-season last time around and up to about November, he had done ok as a squad player but after that he fizzled out. He scored a cracking goal against Dulwich Hamlet at home in late August, which to me was his best game in a Slough shirt but got taken off in the second half [ not sure if it was tactical or if he had an injury?]  I thought he was incredibly unlucky that day but other than that, most of the games I watched he seemed largely anonymous and struggled to get in the game. So much so, that I thought we would have brought a younger winger in for him around January.

There's no doubt in his hey-day he was a class act and you can still see glimpses of his talent on the ball now but Slough in the Conference South[currently] can't afford to carry luxury players.

There are plenty of other non-league clubs around, that Louis Soares can do the business for. Just because he's leaving Slough, doesn't mean it's the end of the road for his football career.
