Welling at home Saturday 13th April

This has all the makings of a tremendous match.

Welling are 3rd in the table and probably still hoping to catch Woking for 2nd place and put themselves in prime position in the play-offs. They are unbeaten in their last 9 league matches, and have won their last five away league matches. But, on closer examination four of those have been 1-0 away wins at Hungerford, Weston, Gloucester & Oxford City.

Slough are unbeaten in six league matches, and in our last four home matches have won two and drawn two...... which includes a 2-1 win against Billericay, and 2-2 draws against St Albans & Dartford. Only a win will give Slough any chance of even a glimmer of a prospect of making the play-offs,  so will they go into this one with the words ‘Fortune Favours the Brave’ ringing in their ears?

Please come out in numbers for this match, be the twelfth man in the stand, and create the fantastic party atmosphere that has been seen at many away matches this season, the Sutton United FA Cup replay, and at Kings Lynn in the play-off final at the end of last season.

Forecast : Slough 3 Welling 2 (if the attendance is greater than 1,000), 2-2 if it’s less than a 1,000

You must be the only fan clinging onto any hope of making the play offs! 5 points off with just 4 games left including a very tough one against Welling and then 2 against opponents fighting to stay up. Even if we won all 4 we’d be relying on others to skip up massively. We’re 11tg with a 5 point gap on 12th so I’d hope 11th would be the lowest we could finish, top 10 is still achievable which would be fantastic. Even though Welling are 3rd they don’t travel well support wise so the crowd will probably be in the 700’s.

From the start of the season I said that 70 points would be required to make the play-offs..... I thought that Concord Rangers would likely be the seventh placed club, and when they were deducted 3 points that target reduced to 67 points.

With 4 matches (5 for Concord Rangers) I still think 67 points is the target, and we can still achieve 67 points with 4 wins.

Yes it is a long shot that we will win our remaining four matches (probably around 50/1), but those odds would shorten considerably if we beat Welling.

Agree with Curtis, this looks like being a cracking game, both teams are in very good form and both like to play attacking football.

It would be great to break the 1,000 attendance barrier but as Glen say's I don't think Welling have a great away support.

Even their home support isn't that great, for their game with Bath they only had 711.

Bakes and Unders don't talk about winning four consecutive games. They talk about setting out to win each and every game, taking one at a time.

Whether or not Rebels are still in with a chance, Easter Monday is a massive day for the play-off places. There are currently only three points between the sixth and tenth placed teams, which covers the last two remaining play-off places. As the table stands at present, Easter Monday sees 4th. v 7th., 9th. v 10th. and 6th. v 8th. Whatever happens in the meantime, I look forward to the Eastbourne Borough match on Easter Monday.

An excellent team performance all around with 1 bit of quality from Billy Clifford to win it.

I thought we played Welling extremely well and limited them to very little by way of attacking threat, the odd time they did get through Jack Turner was more than equal to the task.

Special mention from me to Matt Lench, I though he worked himself into the ground the whole afternoon and whilst I have no issue with any of the team getting MoM, for me, Lench was outstanding from start to finish and got my vote.
