v. BILLERICAY TOWN

Hardly a must win game for us but it would be nice to throw a spanner in the works of their play off push.

Much deserved win today against a side who I expected better from. Just goes to show if Billericay are one of the best then we’re certainly competing and a few tweaks here and there and we should have confidence for next season. It’s good to see we’re giving everything still and trying to get that top 10 finish.

Well that was an eventful afternoon!

Starting with the game, I thought we played the conditions much better than Billericay and that was key. Not pretty but it worked and was a sensible game plan. Still needed a big effort and every single player put that in. Particularly enjoyed Francis Armarty's performance and thought Lench was very good too.

Then there was the unsavoury incidents. I was stood near the Billericay bench in the 1st half but I didn't hear what was initially said to their sub. He reacted by calling a fan a "stupid c***". Someone then said "You're a big man." To which he then threatened to jump over and smash their face in, or to that effect. I went to get a coffee at half time, and then noticed that he had actually jumped over the fence and was squaring up to someone. There was quite a crowd around them but could hear people saying he was threatening a 15 year old fan. There was talk of the police being called and as it was dying down a Billericay fan came along and was giving some too. No idea if it has been followed up but never seen anything like that before. There seemed to be a nasty attitude all round from Billericay. At least their keeper turned around his first half theatrics into having a laugh with the fans in the 2nd half. Couldn't see what the red card was for, anyone with a clearer view of what happened for that?

Very pleasing win and could have been more if a few excellent first half chances had been taken Billericay have been going through a poor patch just 1 point from last 12  and as Glen says looked pretty ordinary most of the game Once again Jack Turner put in a good shift.

I too missed the half time entertainment. I guess it doesn’t matter what any fan says, a footballer has to show professionalism and restraint in these circumstances. Yes I know it can be an extremely tough thing to do! The player in question though was still mouthing off even after one of their management had a word with him. Surely fans shouting abuse at players happens quite regularly, I can’t believe he’s not had this before!

Fair enough it’s only one game I’ve seen them but what a waste of money Billericay are! Some of their players must be on 4/5 times what ours are on and they more than matched them today. Even with their massively reduced budget they should still be comfortably top 3.

An excellent team performance throughout 1-11 today for Slough. Everyone put in a shift and worked as hard as possible to get the 3 points. Once again, apart from the 1 on 1 in the first half and the free kick in the 2nd, we restricted an away team to limited chances.

Thought Billericay looked very average and I agree with those that said about the conditions. As for some of their so called superstars, what a waste of money springs to mind.

The sending off was very strange as we didn't see the #9 do anything apart from try to split everything up. Will be interested to see the video to see if he did anything else.

Thought the ref was poor for both sides today.

All in all a very pleasing 3 points and with a big game against the league leaders next week, a nice confidence boost. Roll on next Saturday?

Didn't really want this topic to be my first post here, but I'm going to try and make things a lot more clearer.

I was the fan that was mainly involved with the Billericay Town substitute. It was my younger brother he then tried to get at. It started from someone else next to us who said something to him and it immediately appeared to anger the player. After the ball went out for a throw-in he called someone a f**king c**t. As half-time began he came over to where I was stood to fetch a ball. As he came over I asked him what had been said to him. He wouldn't tell me what was said and began to call everyone close-by s**t fans and continued to swear at others.

I continued to ask him what had been said to him. He would not tell me and asked me to ask whoever had made the comment. He was clearly getting angrier, not sure why, although all I had said to him repeatedly was 'what was said to you?'. He then said he would jump over the railing and punch me. He then jumped over, stood there and continued to throw threats about before other people began to intervene. Some Billericay Town fans and maybe what looked like one of their players that wasn't involved with the match day squad, along with Slough fans, were having a push at each other before the stewards got involved. Not quite sure what happened after as I moved away from the situation. I'm not sure if my younger brother said anything to him, however, I still don't think his actions were necessary. The only reason why I was asking what was said to him, repeatedly, was because I was concerned it had been racial abuse due to how angered he had instantly became. I don't believe whatever was said to him was racial abuse though.

Other than the half-time madness, I thought Slough were excellent today! Francis Amartey especially was brilliant, the way he played today was different to what I was expecting. His hold-up play throughout was superb and he was very unlucky not to score towards the end. His link-up play with Manny Williams was great to watch too. There was nothing the defence could do about their goal I think, it was very well taken, but apart from that they were solid yet again. Overall it's a thoroughly deserved win in my opinion.

Good performance and a very pleasing win against a side that are expected to be at least in the play-offs.

We were much the better side in the first half and really should have been at least two up going into the break.

Second half was more even but in the end it was a thoroughly deserved three points.

Difficult to choose between Lee Togwell and Jack Turner for my MOTM as both were outstanding.

Really good listening to the Billericay manager's 'every one is against us' after match interview.

He even winged about Guy Hollis rescinded red card.

Would be nice if one of our computer savvy members could put the Billericay managers interview on this thread( I still use a quill and an abacus) totally deluded  If Guy hadn't played they would have won. They had an appeal against a red card turned down  same time as ours was allowed  is proof of officials conspiring to harm Billericay Etc.Etc.
