COUNTY CUP

Let’s get some enthusiasm going for this game now. It’s still a cup final, possibly the last ever  game for some of the players and also the chairman’s last game. Put all the nonsense behind us and aim for a positive end to a great season.

Thank you for this post. It displays the right attitude to the match. Marlow had their biggest gate of the season for the semi-final on 26th. March. 441 compared to their second highest of the season which was 288 against Hayes & Yeading United for the league match on 17th. November. Slough Town submitted an appeal which was upheld. Marlow appealed against the decision and so on ... the Berks & Bucks FA probably had a complicated situation to deal with. The match at Marlow was spoiled by Rebels being unable to convert their chances, Marlow getting the result with a very contentious referee decision, the shameful behaviour of some Marlow players after the match and then the debacle of fielding ineligible players. But that's not how football is supposed to be. Just imagine if Rebels had put away a few of those chances and Maidenhead United had done the same against Reading under 23s. We would all have been really enjoying the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup this season! I would recommend that all supporters take a positive view towards the competition in the future.

Really depends on how many Reading bring after all it’s there youth team not first team so are they really going to be that bothered? Hopefully we’ll have 300-400.

When Bracknell played Reading in B&B this season the attendance was 1173 so Reading fans must have boosted gate.

Shredding Green - How would you describe the way in which the B&B FA have dealt with the situation?

A joke is exactly what this cup has been the whole season.

I do not know all the rules which are applicable, the details of the alleged breaches of the rules nor the dates upon which the B&B received the appeal against the appeal decision from Marlow. A situation which seems to be no easy matter for the Berks & Bucks FA to deal with promptly. Put yourself in their shoes and people calling their prestige competition "a joke", a point which Bakes and Unders do not agree with you.

Shredding Green - what makes you think I'm worried about what Neil and Jon think about my opinion or whether they agree or disagree with it?

The competition is a joke (in my opinion) and the whole situation has been handled incredibly badly.

I for one would be more than happy to see us not enter the competition at all next season as it is clearly (to me) a shambles.

Whether Neil and Jon agree or disagree with me is of no consequence one way or the other. We have agreed and disagreed on many occasions in their time in charge. I hope the get those players that are able to play up for the game as I'm sure they will do.

It is of course very easy to dodge the question I asked you, you don't even need to answer it. I do however think that your failure to do so speaks volumes. I'd like to think that no-one believes that finding out on a Friday that you are in a cup final on Monday is ok, but perhaps you do?

The B+B FA have shown incompetence beyond belief in the this situation and if we are to enter the competition next season, hope that there is a massive alteration in the rules and those in charge, other wise it appears to be a complete waste of everyone's time.

So will you be going to the final?

I think you both raise fair points, Slough Flyer and Shredding Green, and there is truth in what both of you say.

There's no doubt in my mind, that the situation has been handled badly by the Berks and Bucks FA but I don't suppose they intended it to be so. Think you both, will just have to agree to disagree on this matter.

My view is the match is somewhat tainted anyway, by not beating Marlow in the semi final, so I can't say I'm particularly bothered about the match, however it is one more competitive game against good quality opposition and is  being played on a Bank Holiday Monday, and Slough have a chance of winning a trophy, which doesn't come round very often, so for that reason it may well be worth the effort to attend.

Great result. Just about shaved it in the first half against a nippy and well drilled Reading U23 team. More comfortable in the 2nd (apart from their penalty appeal) and a great finish from Josh to seal the game.

Everyone played well, Scott looked completely at home in the second half and really helped us control the game, Wozza worked his socks off as ever, Manny's holding play and use of space excellent as ever (considering he's 196!) and it was great to see Simon Dunn back at his competitive best. Overall I'd give MOTM to Josh Jackman for good defensive work against nippy forwards, great wing work and a stunning goal.

What a perfect end to a great season. A great first season back at this level, an FA cup run and a tilt at the play offs . It could have been an anti- climax end of season but instead  it has vindicated everything that is good about this club .

So happy for Bakes and Unders that they have proved that good management is EVERYTHING. With all the players missing   Today it is so fitting that Sam who has been superb all seasons gets the first.  , Bens wins the Penalty with brilliant guile against an excellent youngster  that Manny Scores , who at times just made me laugh out loud as he made Readings Kids look well like kids .. and Josh probably our most improved player over last 2 seasons gets the clincher.

sheer joy

We are having a great time at the moment .

Thanks to all from chairman , management players and volunteers who

have made it so.

this was your trophy !

Well done Rebels, sounds like an excellent performance in tricky circumstances. A tangible reward for an excellent season

A thoroughly deserved win and tops off a great season. I expected the second half to be a lot harder for Slough, given the age and fitness of Reading U23's and our threadbare, patched up team but that onslaught never came. If anything Slough dominated and Jack Turner had an easy afternoon. I thought Scott Davies and Louie Soares played intelligently and Louie had one of his better games in a Slough shirt.

Manny Williams shaded MOTM for me but overall it was a great team performance and all the Slough players deserve the plaudits for matching Reading in every department, and the icing on the cake came, when finished off with aplomb by Josh Jackman's excellent strike.

Happy days.

Enjoyed that today. Great shift from our 12 available lads. Aside from a little period after getting their goal to half time, Reading didn't really trouble us. Manny was immense - so many times he came up with the ball when he had no right to win it. And much love to Scott Davies for passing on his winners medal to my boy - utter class.
