COUNTY CUP

Longshot

Recommended Posts

We will not hear anything until the end of the week on this, however we are planning on playing in the Final on the bank holiday Monday, and will be training in preparation, so like us plan for coming to support the boys, and if for any reason that changes Thursday/Friday we will see you at the awards night ?

When I heard this a few days ago my reaction was to totally dismiss it but I've realised that they only have two options  One is to endorse a Reading v Slough final  IMO the correct decision or Two to scrap the final What they can't do is reinstate Marlow Marlow accepted that they breached the rules and played ineligible players What Marlow did complain about was that not only could aggrieved clubs complain within 3 days but the rules called for the B&BFA to also check. That was why Marlow were excused from the fine they should have incurred Maybe your correct RR Perhaps they are really embarrassed by their incompetence.

It's at the B&B's discretion if they decide to waive the 3 day appeal rule or not.

The bottom line is, if the B&B's stance is not to check if players are ineligible and leave it clubs to complain then this type of scenario was always going to happen.

Because of lack of due diligence by the B&B they have found themselves in a right hole.

Tinpot from start to finish.

I wonder if they have changed the venue due to a) if Slough are in it it's a home game or b) if Marlow are in it and after all the backlash there maybe issues holdong it at Slough.

A complete shambles from start to finish and regardless of the outcome of the appeal, the final or otherwise, I would encourage the club to pay to not enter the competition next year as the whole thing from top to bottom is a joke.

County Cups are not a joke, they just aren't as important as they used to be. Bakes and Unders have made it quite clear that they aimed to win the competition this season and without a backlog of league fixtures, were treating the competition with importance. Then all this blew up.

The most remarkable admission in their latest statement is that they were aware of reports of ineligible players since the early rounds  and they did nothing!! Where was the due diligence??

Adrian, I don't think it say's they were themselves aware from early rounds, just that they are now aware from social media that there has been ineligible players playing in earlier rounds.

So this will be their get out clause to allow Marlow back in to the final...............

It also say's about players from league clubs who are on a scholarship contract are allowed to play when on loan at other clubs.

If this includes Matt Stevens then we have done nothing wrong and Marlow have.

Clubs need time to get arrangements in place so I think it's very likely that as the decision is not due until probably Friday they decided on a neutral venue in the event of Marlow getting the decision and having to play at AP.
