I see Scott Davies is leaving us to join Kingstonian. Sorry to see him go. Quality player. Always thought his attitude was spot on but imagine he will be in the team every week for the Ks. All the best Scotty.

Sorry to see Scott leave, too, as he's a quality midfielder in the Conference South and was one of the main men in getting our team promoted. This season, of the games I've seen, I thought his form has been patchy. There's no doubting his ability but in a couple of games he looked like he was coasting but that could be down to injury niggles, so not a fixed judgement from me, just an observation. Not sure he appreciated being subbed in the home match against Chippenham, certainly didn't look happy when he made way, so perhaps that was the start of his dissatisfaction.

Wish him well at Kingstonian. Could be a kingpin there. For me, the type of football Slough are playing in their maiden season in the Conference South isn't necessarily the best fit for a player like Scott Davies, so it might be a good time to part ways. Intrigued to see who we bring in to replace him.

I doubt if they are moving specifically to replace Scott  Our problem is lack of goals and Scott scored none Just before KO at Billericay we had the 4th best defence in the league and were 12th the 3 teams with better defences were 1st 2nd and 3rd. We were 12 th because every team above us had scored more some substantially more and even 5 teams below had scored more  I expect new recruits to be proven strikers/attacking midfielder Our great defence will keep us comfortable in our first season at this higher level but a bit of inspired tweaking could lead to much better

I think Adrian is right.

Scott Davies obviously had all the ability but not sure he used it in the right way i.e. miss placed passes etc also for a central midfielder he hasn't scored and hasn't looked like scoring when in good positions.

We still have plenty of midfielders.

For me our problem has been up top not in midfield.

With a bit of luck we will be able to announce 2 maybe 3 signings next week, however in saying that it could be back to the drawing board again next week, if things don’t pan out.

We have been working extremely hard to bring some new faces in, and hopefully that will come to fruition next week.

Are we writing off this season or something and planning for next season already???

Would say we are if the 2-3 players are young loan players from higher level clubs...

That being said, I do think that Scott is an excellent player BUT maybe the level below is better suited to his style of play now...

Sorry RR but up front isn’t the problem, this season our defence has scored 3 league goals and the midfield 6(including Sam T) ,and not including Dobbo, the problem is goals all areas

Yes Ade the midfield should chip in with their share but first and foremost strikers are in the team to score goals.

Best of luck to Scotty , he did a fine job for us.

As ever with Bakes and Unders when people leave always seems unexpected yet always seems logical when you look back at it after and is a step forward for the club. Each change always seems to take us forward. Fingers crossed for the next chapter .

I'm not so sure about that, Stan. I agree Bakes and Unders are good at pinpointing the areas in the team to improve on but their signings have been hit and miss, just like all managers throughout the land. No one get's it right all the time.

The fact is you never know whether a player is going to be the right fit for the team until he has actually played a number of games for the club. Take Scott Davies, just because he's leaving our team, doesn't make him a bad player. Another manager could build his team around Scott Davies. To me it's more down to tactics and whether your face fits with the comradeship in the bunch you are coaching.

A very good signing for Kingstonian (at the same level and about the same stage we signed him last season) and wouldn’t be surprised if it will be enough to catapult them in to the end of season play-offs.

Most memorable Scott Davies moment : him running over after the play-off win against Kings Lynn and handing his medal to a delighted young Slough fan.

It’s interesting to note that we signed Scott Davies, Matt Day, and Perry Coles at around this time last season, and all played a big part in our promotion but none are with us a year later.

Not forgetting his superb part in the winning goal v Kings Lynn fighting off the challenge in the middle  of the pitch to pass the ball to Dobbo who.s great pass set up Manny to score. Then soon after heading the ball over the bar when it looked like Lynn were going to equalise. He had his off moments but a very good player.

I remember watching Scott as a youngster on loan at Aldershot regularly being on the score sheet, and was surprised to see during this time at Slough that was a side to his game that had disappeared, 49 appearances for Slough and not a single goal, and then he scores on this debut for  Kingstonian..... typical!!

......but isn't that down to what he's being asked to do when he's playing for Slough?

To me, this season we're having to churn out results by airing on the side of being defensive as a unit and keeping tight to the opposition to stop them playing, and our attacks usually come from the flanks and trying to attack by fast breaks.Nothing that we haven't done before but our team cannot be gung ho in attack and need to be aware.  In this way Lee Togwell is a shoe in to start most games. The style of our play needs our centre midfielders to be closing down fast and they need to be hard working. Scott Davies doesn't want to be chasing down players. He wants other players to do that. Trouble is our side can't afford him not to.

Scott wants to be the playmaker and be the man to get forward from midfield and to spread the play with the killer pass but the trouble is we favour Lee Togs and Simon Dunn to do this. Scott's style isn't tracking back. He will do some but it seems that he struggles with that side of the game, whether that's because he thinks he's better than that, or doesn't want to in case he get's hurt, I don't know .

So , in our maiden season learning what this Conference South is all about, I view him as a bit of luxury player for us and I presume Bakes and Unders do, too, as they wouldn't let him leave otherwise.

Scott is still technically a very good player, and Kingstonian should benefit from him, whereas the point Slough are at, maybe an energetic box to box midfielder would suit us better. We will see if that is the route we go down, when/if the signings materialise.

Whatever, with Matt Lench as an option in centre midfield, I would think a striker is the priority.
