Irishadrian
When they beat us in the FA Trophy back in November WSM were the only team in our league with no home league wins. Approaching February they still have zero home wins and the leagues worst defence. On paper we should be confident of 3 points but they've been slowly improving in recent weeks and have a long term injured stalwart back to full fitness for this game so I'm expecting a tough game with all possible outcomes likely They must be desperate for that first home win Great that Ben Harris is back for this one It was he that scored both our goals last time COYR. REBEL MATTERS
With the debate that’s been going on here this week discussing ‘promotion’ / ‘play offs’ this result probably highlights that we are probably over reaching with our ambitions. Majorly disappointed with today’s result, on top of dropping 2 points v Chippenham from a 2 goal lead. Gaffers doing a great job in keeping us mid table and away from relegation in our first season in this league, no complaints at all. We’re not there yet. Onto Tuesday where I’m sure the’ll be a reaction (as always) ?
Reading Rebel
Very frustrating game. On a positive note we played well and dominated the first half creating roughly 8 chances to Weston's 2 unfortunately no chances were taken. Second half was a much more even affair but we still created about 5 chances to Weston's 2. Not sure about their second goal but Weston's first was the result of some very poor defending from a simple punt up field from their keeper which we failed to deal with. As the second half wore on, possibly through desperation to get back into the game, we seemed to become a bit ragged with our passing with several going astray. In the end I think it was one of those games where we wouldn't have scored if we had been there all day. Good that we have a game on Tuesday to put things right. COYR!!!! I had a think and although I wasn’t being overly negative, I deleted what I said as so many people keep reminding me about my moaning! Yes it’s disappointing to lose (especially given them their first win at home) but it’s our first season so we have to realistic and honest about what we can actually achieve this season. I’ve come to accept it’ll be mid table and the play offs are going to be too much of an ask but hopefully with some decent summer business maybe next season we could flirt a little more with those teasing PO’s. Turncoat I don't think the play-offs are out of the question but it will need a run of results to put us back in the picture.
GlenSTFC
But we’ve got so close to the play offs (as well as being in them earlier in the season) and every time our form takes a turn for the worse. A lack of consistency makes it just a bit too far in my opinion (obviously I’d be overjoyed if we do make it). I’m confident we can make sone top signings in the summer and progress from there. Irishadrian
Disappointing but we aren't tailed off near the bottom If we had converted some of a host of first half chances and won this game today we'd be just 2 points off the playoffs that's how close this league is and remember this season there will be 7 teams vying for success. Reading Rebel
Listened to interview with Unders and I think his assessment of the game is spot on. In the first half we played well and the Weston keeper did make a couple of good saves but we really should have scored a couple of goals with the chances we had. Some schoolboy defending in the second half and again some good chances missed has cost us the game.
Shredding Green
Whilst a season of consolidation at this level will be a very satisfactory one for Rebels, yesterday was one of those days when not scoring was of particular interest. Woking lost at home without scoring to Wealdstone by twice the margin that Rebels did on New Year's Day. Bath City didn't have to wait long for their next goalless draw, but they didn't expect it away to Gloucester City after beating Torquay United. It is well documented that Rebels play good football but don't convert many of the chances that they create. A good run of results in any of the three remaining months of the league season and resolving the above problem could see Bakes and Unders with a few one off away play-off matches to mastermind. I look forward in general to seeing what happens in each of the three remaining months. At least one of Bath City and Woking will still be playing in this division next season ... whether or not Rebels reach the play-offs or only get so far in them, I am sure that we will all still take a great interest in them.
