James Dobson

Very sad to see Dobbo will be leaving, you have been brilliant for the Rebels since you rejoined us for the second time working so hard to get where you are today. Your goals free kicks and assists and at vital times no better than the 89th minute pass to Manny for the play off final win against Kings Lynn have been superb.

All the best for the future.

There are many moments, passes, crosses, set pieces and goals that I will remember James Dobson for because he has been one of those people on and off the pitch that have been pivotal in bringing the club to where it is today. Thank you from me James.

Paul Doswell noticed the contribution that James Dobson made in the two FA Cup ties. In National League, Sutton United have scored 38 goals in 28 matches (1.357 per match) compared to 29 in 24 matches by Slough Town (1.208 per match). Just eight points behind Leyton Orient with a game in hand, if James can make Sutton United's performances slightly better in their remaining 18 league matches, they will at least be in the National League play-offs.

H : 26/1 Ebbsfleet United  13/4 Leyton Orient

A :   2/2 Salford City  9/2 Barnet  23/2 Dagenham & Redbridge  19/4 Wrexham

By the evening of Saturday 9th. February, James will have got a good feel of life near the top of National League. I'm sure that all the players and staff at Arbour Park will be pleased to hear from him every now and again!

Sad as I am to see Dobbo go, it shows how far we have come as a club . When was the last time we received a fee for a player? Add to that the way we have dealt with it both professionally and honestly and it reflects well on the club and management. I wish he was staying, but every move we have taken in the last 5 years that looked one step back turned out to be two steps forward . Trust that this will be the same.

Not unexpected to see Dobbo leaving, he has the desire and now the opportunity to play at a higher level.

Thank for all of the memories, there have been too many to mention individually over the past three or so years.

I am sure that all of the Slough fans will appreciate your part in our recent successes and wish you good luck at Sutton.

Yes, someone on the Wealdstone forum is saying that Matt Lench has left the club and believed to heading back to Slough.

On their Twitter as well, Wealdstone fan I know said their was a heated exchange of views between Lench and Bobby recently, they were expecting him to be released after that.

I see that Dobbo has now gone full time? I guess there are risks in all decisions you make with regards to work.

I have to admit, I have no idea what he does / did for a living outside of football, but a bit of a risk giving up his 'day job' or is it a case of following your dreams and having the balls to do it.

I think they’re semi full time if that makes sense! 3 training sessions per week. I understand he lives in Aylesbury so it’s bit of a trek even more so if has a full time job. Although with a 2 1/2 year contract maybe he can afford to work part time.

You're looking at around a 2 hour journey from Aylesbury to Sutton.

Not the first time Doswell has splashed on a left sided Slough player who impressed against his team....... Mullet Power!

Excellent memory there BFR. Forgot Paul Doswell was behind Eastleigh’s rise. I recall we won 4-0 there with Haddow getting three, which prompted them to sign him and put him on a contract.

Our record transfer fee received is reportedly £25,000 for Lloyd Owusu in 1998.... presumably James Dobson hasn’t broken that record?

I don't consider this to be our record fee received - by my reconning the fee for Owusu would have gone straight to B Thorne. Therefore, tje £20,000 for Tony Dennis to Cambridge in 1989 is the record. In any case Lloyd was worth a million!
