Kevin Madley

We were informed last night that long-time Slough supporter, Kevin Madley passed away last Friday.

Many on this forum (off the top of my head, Radders, Marcus, Martin, Warren, Mark Clements, Staines Rebel Jr) will remember Kevin as he occasionally played 5-a-side football and the odd 11-a-side supporters game – Rugby away is one I recall.

His daughter Jenny Madley provided the below words and a picture for those who knew Kevin or may have met him down the years.

“My dad has been a season ticket holder for probably 20 years and, despite moving to Chichester 7 years ago, continued to travel up for home games.

More recently he has been poorly and was not allowed to drive so hasn’t been since October or so. He passed away on Friday (4th January).

Kevin was an avid supporter of Slough Town for well over 20 years (we can’t figure out entirely how long). As a family we’d turn up to cold matches against Maidenhead on New Year's Day, booing along with the crowd enthusiastically.

In the days when you could sponsor specific parts of players’ kit, he sponsored a player’s socks specifically so he could shout “Pull your socks up!”

He always stood in the same place (just behind the goal) and quietly acknowledged the other regular supporters - though never engaged in lengthy conversations, as was his way. He’d always make sure he’d get to the ground by 2pm so he could have a pint before the game, much to my Mum’s annoyance who would have to spend the whole day alone when they moved to Chichester.

He really loved Slough Town FC and it will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

I am really shocked and very sad to hear this. Went to school with his daughters and knew his wife who worked there too. Only really got to know Kevin through football and he was lovely guy to chat too and share a pint with.

The best right back the supporters team ever had.

RIP Kevin, deepest condolences to the whole Madley family
