Lench released by Wealdstone?!?! Another rumour! Ryan Bird available?!?! Another rumour!

Someone mentioned last night that there was a rumour circulating that Matt Lench was coming back to Slough. I'd be shocked if that happened, given the way he exited from us.However if it were to happen I would be genuinely pleased, as I still rate him highly, regardless of his time at Wealdstone. Trouble is I think there may be too much water that's passed between our managers and Matt for that to occur.

Ryan Bird's time at Maidenhead doesn't sound like it's been a success but that shouldn't stop us testing the waters to try and acquire him.

Well it’s a rumour until it’s officially announced tomorrow but yes I think we all know it’s 100%! Just hope the fee is reinvested into 1 or 2 decent players.

It's not a rumour if it's been confirmed by the Management in the post match interview last night.

That's correct but considering the large amounts gleaned from two consecutive successful FA Cup runs  we've been in a position  for some time to pursue that approach if it were policy.

Right time, right player/s.

RR I don't think anyone could argue that now is not the right time  Not including our short term loanee we have 3 designated forwards in our squad Flood Harris and Williams   They've played a total of 51 league games this season for a total of 5 league goals  We are crying out for effective forwards. But are there suitable candidates available who want want to play for the Rebels? I'm sure Neil and Jon are working hard on this one.

I only noticed today that Matt Lench signed on dual registration terms with former club Hitchin Town on 20th. November. Fourth from bottom in the level below! He's played a few league games for them, incurred a hip injury which he has recovered from and was recalled by Wealdstone on 28th. December.

Matt Lench is obviously well thought of at Hitchin and would certainly help with their relegation fight. He seems to have had a few injuries since he left Slough and so that has limited his chances at Wealdstone. I don't think he will come back to Slough anyway and perhaps we need to bring in a couple of new players, who haven't played for us before to give the team a few fresh ideas in our attacking play.

I think Bakes and Unders have created a good steady, well drilled defensive unit but I wouldn't say we are the most exciting team to watch going forward. This season is very much about staying in the division and consolidating where we are. To that effect they have done remarkably well so far but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where our limitations are.

To me we are too reliant on set plays to get goals. Might have been alright in the Premier division but this season with the calibre of player we're facing and the size of some of the centre halves, we're not getting a lot of joy from percentage football.

Yes but only 25 starts between them, and only 13 full games with 16 games with less than 30 minute play time....

If these three players performances so far this season were broken down to minutes on the pitch I believe that five goals between them would still be considered a poor return. But I do believe Neil and Jon are moving quickly to give us some bite.

It was only Manny and Floody I worked out there was a few of them games that they came on with only minutes left so NO time to score. If your only playing afew minutes (under 30) at a time, I disagree you need more time on the pitch also,we (our players) at end of games could be just running the clock down or game management as Neil would put it. As for Dejon he has only came on at the end of games for minutes It'll be time for him
