East Thurrock United H 22nd Dec.

If ever a game was likely to end our recent poor run of league form surely its this one?

East Thurrock are having a mixed season They've won as many home games as we have including their one against us but they're 21st because of their truly dreadful away form

They've played 10 won 0 drawn 1 lost 9 just 1 point from 30 and scored just 4 times

Strange things sometimes happen in football but I'll be very surprised if this isn't a Rebel win

I think it’s vital we win on Saturday after the disappointment of the last result plus we’re going into 3 tough Christmas games. The facts as above point to a home win but we all know it doesn’t work that way and with ETU terrible away record it only adds pressure and could make for a tense tight game.

It appears Nathan will only be brought in if necessary and it’s unlikely he’ll be at the club next season. Perry isn’t the answer to our striking needs, i feel we need 2 quality strikers certainly for next year, 1 would suffice for this season. I’d be surprised if Manny is with us next season and you need 4 strikers really. I’m sure our managers are working their socks off in signing new player(s), hopefully we may see the fruits of their labour soon?

The brewer part of my forum name (we lived in Lichfield for a few years due to work and watched Burton in the Northern Premier and Conference under Nigel Clough part 1) is obviously very proud right now but I'd swap the League Cup semi final for 6 rebels points in a jiffy and if one point was crucial either way come the end of the season for that one point in a heart beat! Jon and Neil seem to have some similar qualities to Clough as a manager actually. (Measured, don't spend ahead of income, strong personal relationship with chairman, teaching team to think for themselves, fundamentally about good passing football but willing to change for circumstances and building from the back.)

Anyway think we should beat East Thurrock but we should take it very seriously to get ourselves back on track and build confidence ahead of Wealdstone and Dulwich.

I agree re the striker situation and my comments were more with the next 4 games in mind, rather than the long term solution

Yes good luck to Dejon He was on loan to Chesham back in September and celebrated his first start by scoring one of the two goals that unexpectedly put Biggleswade out of the FA Cup after about 5 mins   had good reports during that period

Thought East Thurrock were quite a tenacious team but with no real quality.  We did what we needed to do and that was get the 3 points. Nice to see Dobbo's thunderbolt go in.

Not the greatest game but a well deserved 3 points in the end and an absolute belter from Dobson that was worth the entrance fee alone. Also delighted for Chris Flood grabbing a couple which will do his confidence the world of good. A good start to a tough festive period - hopefully my liver can handle it. COYR!

Although it’s not uncommon even at this level, I see on Twitter that Dobbo has signed for agent company called Achieve. Who knows some of our other players may have agents although I’d be surprised. So should we expect him to be off sooner rather than later as obviously the purpose of any agent is to move their clients onto bigger and better things?
