Dartford A 8th December

Its time we got something from Dartford Although we've never played them in a league game  they have twice knocked us out of the FA Cup 2-3 and 1-2 and once out of the FA Trophy 4-1. The most recent meeting in October 2016

I'm hoping their poor scoring record this season and our excellent defence means we will prevail in what looks like a close fought match I've a feeling both teams previous game may have some effect on the outcome  Dartford had a tough Tuesday game with new leaders Torquay and I wonder if  will we be raring to go after the Gills game or will there be an element of anti climax? Hard game to assess but as always I hope for a Rebel victory

That has to be considered a point gained rather than two lost considering Dartford were sixth prior to kick off and before their loss last Tuesday to Torquay they had been the leagues form team. Anyone know/guess how many Rebel supporters were there The gate is given as a bit less than 1500 and they got 900 on Tuesday for Torquay's visit I'm stuck in Somerset today but reading both teams twitterfeed  it sounds like a fair result with us perhaps having a chance or two more

Yes before the game I’d have a taken a point but I’m actually frustrated and disappointed we did t win that. We dominated the first half and really should have gone in 2-0 up. Second half Dartford naturally have more play and we’re more attacking but Manny too had a great chance to score. I thought Dartford were there for the taking this afternoon. I suppose it shows how far we’ve come when we go to established, well supported Conference South teams like Dartford and have to make do with a point!

No way was there 1,500! I had a good scan around and predicted around 1,000. I’d say no more 100 Slough. First visit and it’s sn impressive ground, similar to ours in that it’s council owned. A design flaw in my view in having only 6 steps of terracing but really high roofs which doesn’t keep the atmosphere or warmth in!!!

Several sites claiming 1466 but I'd be very surprised given the weather!

Considering you weren’t there how would you know!!!

there are 600 seats down the side, most of which were occupied. Add the 250-300 Dartford fans at their end plus roughly 100 Slough. Then include the 200+ kids and all their parents. It’s not hard to get to 1466.

We should have been 3-0 up before they scored which ultimately makes the final score disappointing. However, before the match would have happily taken a draw and a performance which clearly showed we can easily compete with one of the top teams in the division.

MotM - Josh Jackman (by a mile). Brilliant individual goal and our best player defensively too.

The weather was mentioned on social media sites! Didn't need to be there Reminds me of the old French proverb(translated) " You don't have to go into a fish shop to get the smell!"

It was mentioned on social media - so f***ing what!!!

The Dartford ground has cover all around the pitch!!!

Also that proverb is totally made up and has never been used in France.

I suppose the gate isn't that important  They usually fall in these few weeks before Xmas while people shop or save  You believe it could be accurate one other forum member says absolutely no way so best we leave it at that and concentrate on on field matters

Yes some people would have been happy with a point before kick off but on watching 90 minutes of play no way was that a fair result.

Put our chances away and we win comfortably.

Calm down, Jafooly. I'm sure Irishadrian mean't no harm by his comment.

Anyway who cares about the size of the crowd away, all that matters is the Slough performance and the result.

We were much the better side in the first half and but for some poor finishing we should have gone in at half time 2 or 3 goals up.

Excellent goal from Josh Jackman who turned a poor pass into possibly the goal of the season as it stands.

Second half Dartford had a spell of about 15 minutes where they put us under pressure and scored a goal at the near post through Jack Turners legs.

Having said that we weathered the storm, came back strong and again we should have put a chance or two away.

Definitely two points dropped.

We were hampered by Flood getting injured in the warm up after being named in the starting line-up, but were still well worth our 1-0 lead at half-time.

Dobson didn’t seem to be at his best today, and probably got a bit frustrated, started drifting in field rather than keeping the width for us, and when he did get the ball was single minded in trying to get a shot off..... and was substituted late on.

We created more chances in my opinion,  (Ben & Manny both failing to hit the target with what looked like free headers from about six yards out) and on the balance of play should have come away with all three points, but it had a feel of our first seven league matches this season when we only managed to score six goals.

Most important today was the reaction after Gillingham and losing Matty. And it was excellent , once again we took on a top team in this league and got the better of them. The 3 points would have been nice but the progress this team has made in just a year is tremendous. Now we have to,show that reaction again on Tuesday and get all 3 points.
