Sutton Replay

Good job we have made lots of effort with good publicity to sell tickets in advance  The weather forecast for tomorrow is dire lots of rain expected with temperatures as low as 2/3C but lots of wind will make that seen lower  Same for both teams of course Well done to the backroom boys!

Are you a Sutton United supporter Stewart? I’d say we’re quietly confident, would be foolish to be over confident. It was quite an even game at yours and I can’t see many disagreeing that we should have had a penalty which could have won it for us. Hopefully there should be a similar sized crowd tonight to spur the team through just don’t want dreaded penalties (although obviously I’d take them if we were 0-4 down!).

I think we have more reason than Sutton to be optimistic tonight  Their official report on the first game and their social media have substantially said we were the better team Tonight Sutton face us with their first choice goalie suspended and the forward brought back from H&R to help with their dearth of goals is cuptied!  and of course we have home advantage I think it will be us looking at the result tomorrow night to see if we get Hartlepool or Gillingham.

A tremendous effort by all, to be the better side against a decent Conference side in two games is no fluke. Well done all, a great night. You could see we were slowly growing into the game that last 25 mins and the subs had a great impact. Extra time, we were the only team looking like winning it. Extra credit for the fitness levels shown.

Paxton Lee my feelings exactly Sutton are a Conference National side in their playoff positions and we bettered them at Sutton and a competent ref would have made tonight unnecessary The squad never believe they will lose and their heads don't drop when things aren't going well  They play with expectation till the final whistle  Another large injection of cash to fund future plans and a lot more possible  And to think that at the start of this season there were some that wondered if we could perform adequately in the National South!

What a night. Those days don’t come often yet we have done it two seasons running. Thought we were in for a spanking first 20 mins but we grew into the game and thought we bossed the 2 nd half and fully deserved the equaliser. We then finished by far the stronger. Support was best ive ever heard at home and made for a great atmosphere.

How big is the next game now.

Unbelievably superb and gutsy performance from the team and fantastic support from our fans!!

Hung in there at 0-1, gradually fought our way back into the game and once we got the equaliser only one team was going to win.

Still can't believe we won such a big game on penalties  ?

COYR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else think there were more than the announced attendance? Seemed more then were there for Woking but the attendance was lower. Anyway doesn’t matter just an observation. Regarding the 2nd round I read FA rules state we can give upto 15% of capacity to the away team which equals around 300. I think it worked well last night giving Sutton that one side but if we only need to give 300 why not give them 100 seats plus one half of that side? We have to give ourselves every advantage!

I think I mentioned we would win,its all about ambition and belief.Brilliant night and a deserved victory. Cant see why we cannot progress further.

Is this guy ever wrong? On the other hand this could be his most supportive message yet! I suppose you’re expecting us to beat either Hartlepool or Gillingham now then go and smash Man City away in the 3rd?

You are beginning to get the idea.

It was a great night to be a Rebel and was well worth the soaking I got !

As Stan said for the first twenty minutes of the game Sutton looked a side, a division above us but after digging in and getting to see a lot more of the ball Slough started to turn the game around on Sutton.  Sutton went from looking like world beaters, to looking like panel beaters. From such an auspicious start by the Sutton team, to how ragged they became, for the Sutton manager he must be scratching his head, how that was to be.

All credit to our team for sticking to the task in hand and not being overawed by Sutton. Lee Togwell was immense last night and he throughly deserved the Man of the Match accolade he received at the end, in my opinion. To me he worked his socks off and got among the Sutton midfield players and definitely upset their rhythm. With his inspiring performance, others started to show up.Thought Mark Nisbet had a great game, too [and he also took his penalty coolly !]. He doesn't always get the plaudits he deserves but since he arrived at our club he has steadied our defensive ship and while he is prone to making the odd gaffe, in the big games he always shines through. I like the fact that he is an unassuming sort of guy but no one's fool on the pitch. He has a quiet assurance about him. Slough have prospered since he came to the club and you have to credit the managers for sticking with him, when some wouldn't have done.                                                                             Together with Sam Togwell who also did well last night  [and Guy Hollis when he gets the chance] we have a solid enough platform to build on for this season. If we start leaking goals, later in the campaign, three centre halves in the team could be handy.

Dobbo was typical dobbo last night, wouldn't say it was his best performance in a Slough shirt but he is always likely to give us something special. I like when he comes into midfield centrally, as he is a handful for defenders. The way the game was going, it didn't look like we would score from open play, even though we had had quite a few chances,so it was a blessed relief that Dobbo got us that free kick equaliser.

All the team were a credit to the fans last night, and so I'll leave criticism of one particular player for another day, the drama of extra time and the splendid penalty shoot out are the best things for this message to focus on. What a night to be a Slough Town fan !

We deserved victory and for justice, we got it. Well done all involved. A night to saviour.
