I too was expecting/hoping for mid 700’s. But it wasn’t an attractive fixture in fairness especially when the next two games are biggies so I guess some were maybe thinking I’ll miss this but go to the next 2. Plus they brought maybe 25? Still disappointed as that crowd was actually below last seasons average.

Boys behind the goal so quiet today the last five games the singing has been tremendous were you all saving it for next week.

Great three points thought Scott had a very good game and Matty Stevens tireless running with and with out the ball superb again.

Attendances  at league games have been falling since Torquay 1244 the following four were Dulwich 1010 Oxford 832 Hungerford 772 and Concord 683 our only lower attendance was the 651 for Weston at the start of the season Maybe people look for the big name games!

the game today although a victory against a good side was hardly inspiring at times, we looked a little laboured and had problems defending set plays. we still favour the long ball though we seem to cause teams more problems when we keep the ball down and use movement with accurate short to medium passes just an observation.

Did I watch a different game?

Concord did have their chances – the unmarked header early in the 1st half and several other times when our defence was under pressure but we cleared the ball, Jack also making saves.

Second half we settled and played some good passing football which frustrated the opposition into fouling and showing their true colours.

As for singing, Dan started and only just stopped a rendition of B&URA before they had a shot on goal – it is cursed!

And for attendance, the 15 webbed fingered followers from the undersea world of Canvey did not really boost the gate.

It was a far better performance than the games that preceded it.

Yep of course we struggled to defend set pieces.... we kept a clean sheet and with the exception of the free header where they hit the post, we dealt with brilliant deliveries the best you can.

Expectations sometimes are incredible, we had much the better chances, free header from Togs, goalmouth scramble where Nis ends up ball cleared off the line, a nice passing move with ended with Matty heading wide, chance for Matty where keeper pushed into Togs feet and should have buried, plus Wazza through one on one...

How many shots did Jack have to save? I will let you answer that as I know what his response to me after the game was (I had nothing really to do)... against a side who are strong we competed throughout and were the better side... we are not going to create 15/20 chances a game like we did sometimes last season, the games are not like that, you also get less time on the ball, and are shut downs a lot quicker, as for your fixation oflong balls, it is just nonsense.

We knew what to expect this season, the top 5 sides last season were nominally National League sides and we know how tough they were. Look at Hereford so far in National North, they were winning for fun last season. We didn't need to defend so well in Southern League, this season we do and we're making a good job of it too!

In my opinion we were better than Concord, created more chances and limited them to vitually nothing.

In open play you are probably right Bernie but a strength of Concord is their delivery into the box and whether it was by a corner or a free kick their set play delivery was excellent and caused us some anxious moments.

Bit surprised (possibly injured) that Alex Wall was not on their team sheet because he's certainly a big target man for them and possibly the reason why they are good at delivering quality balls into the area.

I’m sure someone could resolve this dispute if they wanted to by reviewing the full 90 minutes and compiling the stats:-

number of short passes, short pass completion %, number of long passes & long pass completion %

Would you include distribution from Jack in these stats though?

It is not a dispute Mark and I actually don’t care for stats on passing success and what is short and long, as it is irrelevant as proved when a team loses despite having 75 per cent posession, only thing that really matters is how many goals and points we can amount, i am just fed up with his constant digs at our team...

It is mind numbing to be honest, and stems back to when I had a dispute with him face to face last season in the bar about his constant negativity on the forum, and he told me he can say what he wants as he is a paying spectator, and he is right....  however I also have a right to respond, as I and Unders put a huge part of our lives into this football club (and I mean we live and breathe it) not just a couple of hours on a match day.

I would say we are pretty balanced, we are not the type to say we were great when we are not, and are pretty honest when we are poor (as every team is).

The fact he did not congratulate the team on promotion said that he took it personally that I had the audacity to challenge him in the bar and he would rather we (myself and Jon) are unsuccessful.

i think it is fair to say we have played some brilliant football over the years, and also been direct, we do what is necessary to win games of football by putting good players on the pitch, and each game can vary.

Jack is one of the best passers of the ball we have, and most of his kicks are long to either full backs, or wingers, huge weapon to have, and allows us to play further up the pitch when we have it, instead of passing it around the back, where we could pass the ball 20 times and then give it away and allow them to score.

I think our stats stand up against most managers that have been at the club, and for that we are proud, however we will continue to strive to keep improving, until the day we are told we are not to.

neil they are not digs , they  are just my observations and opinions along with every one else i am entitled to them as well as yours , same old same old , perhaps we should just agree to disagree, ive followed slough for a long time and seen a lot of games . and i have an opinion i am not saying you are not successful in fact i think just the opposite. but i think maybe things could maybe easier, and as you say you dont like to use stats , so may i suggest you dont use them to boost your argument.
