Fat Tom Daley
AFC Hornchurch Supporters Association – Contributions to Foodbanks As part of the Supporters Association’s aim to become more engaged with the local community, it has been agreed that in the run up to the festive Christmas season we shall be collecting contributions to donate to our local foodbank. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems. The Rainham Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks supported by the Trussell Trust working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. They believe that no one in our community should have to face going hungry. I am sure that this is a sentiment that we all share and that we would wish to support the foodbank in its aim to provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred them in crisis. At each home fixture during November and December, we will be grateful to receive donations of non-perishable in-date food that we can then pass onto the foodbank to be given to people in need. Contributions can be handed in at the Supporters Stall outside the Clubhouse before kick off. URGENTLY NEEDED FOOD ITEMS TINNED FRUIT (400GMS) TEA BAGS (80'S) DRIED PASTA (500GMS) UHT MILK (1 LITRE) BREAKFAST CEREALS Cream crackers. Biscuits, Assorted Nuts. Sweets. Chocolates Small Christmas Puddings Mince Pies Tinned Ham Tinned Meats Tinned Veg Tinned potatoes Tinned Peaches/Pears Carnation Milk Small Coffee jars Jars of onions/red cabbage/gherkins Listed above are just a few of the items that are currently required, but any similar items such as tinned soup, tinned vegetables, coffee, rice puddings etc. would be most welcome. More details will be available on the Fans Forum via the Club Website shortly. We would ask all Urchins to support this initiative. It should not be costly and if each of us could donate just a few items, we will be capable of making a big difference this winter. This scheme will be ran by our two community engagement members of the AFCHSA committee Dave Cook and Stephen McEnnerney. COYU
Dinamo Urchin
All The foodbank have advised that they re looking to put together Christmas hampers on 7 December. Could I therefore ask that everyone make their donations as early as possible. Fully appreciate that this is very short notice, but I'll happily take contributions at the Supporters Stall outside the Clubhouse tonight and there will be a more organised response to the request in time for the Worthing game, honest.
