This is probably going to sound like asking a question with 20/20 hindsight, but why when we were playing poorly defensively all afternoon did we not make a single defensive substitution...... especially at 2-1 up after 75 minutes when shouts have been heard from our bench ‘we don’t need to score another goal’, and then we see Chris Flood replaced with Ben Harris.

I’m not being critical, we are unbeaten in our last seven competitive matches, which is fantastic, and I fully expect we will win the replay..... just a little baffled.

In answer to your question Mark, the reason we did not make a change in the back 4 is it is something we rarely do unless we have to (injury wise) i always found as a player going in to a game mid way through as a defender that it was tough, and too often in the past when players have come on defensively they have not got to grips with the game quick enough.

And whilst we thought we were poor, there was enough experience there to get us through, however let’s make no bones about it, the mistake for the second goal is a car crash, and to be honest at that point they had actually stopped hurting us.

We had asked the full backs to stay at home, instead of bombing on at every opportunity, and that was from the shout by Unders that you have alluded to, and that should have been enough to keep them out, and he was right we didn’t need to score if we didn’t concede.

We had also made a defensive change in midfield, by bringing on Sean, which had shored us up also.... but the game should still have been out of sight, I think back to the chance that Togs had shortly after the second goal, that was dragged just the wrong side of the post, and the numerous other shots and balls into the box.

Still angry now, and like you said I hope we win the replay, however it was levels of concentration that caused us problems today, and that comes about by being not 100per cent on it.... on the balance of the game we should still have won comfortably, as an attacking threat we were not too bad, we just gave them chances today from sloppiness, however expect to see two or three changes Tuesday, and another reaction like Sholing.

Interesting reading Neil’s words and linking it to the justified rant in the end of the game interview.

I can see where he is coming from because the same was apparent as viewed from behind the goal.

It looked like we were only playing 90% of the game, with the 10% switch off letting BMF back in, and on two occasions leading to goals.

For the times when 100% was given by us we were the game winners, but as BMF were on it 100% of the time, they justified the draw.

I would say that if we play 100% of the time, with the players we have, we are justified to say we are playing at Conference South level, drop 5% and it is a level down, another 5% for the next level….

With BMF getting promotion last season, it shows they are no mugs, so it is time for the boys to show why we got as far as we did last year in the cup by delivering 100% performances or BMF will have that scalp they so desperately want.

Clearly we weren't at our best but we dominated possession and had numerous chances to win the game.

BMF defended valiantly throughout, throwing themselves in front of everything but posing a constant threat on the break. Their opening goal was superbly finished and I was pleased for their excellent travelling support.

In my view we were a little too predictable in the attacking third. Whilst I love seeing the ball worked wide and crosses into the box it does allow the other team to set up defensively. They want narrow packed the box defensively. It worked for them.

My first sight of Matt Stevens thought he looked a constant threat. Excellent signing.

Good luck to the Rebels for Tuesday. COYR

Well done Rebels on a professional job. I’m predicting a below par draw at Eastbourne Borough and a convincing replay win! Was planning on going tonight until work had other ideas... another potential banana skin avoided and onto a tough but certainly winnable 4th Qualifying tie next and the massive carrot of £25,000 plus possible glamour match.

Top performance from the rebels tonight. In control throughout and could have been a fair few more after BMF chucked people forward at 3-0 trying to get back in it.

Manny Williams was outstanding tonight. Made plenty of chances and they couldn't touch him.

The starting eleven all had at least 8/10 performances tonight and showed their class. Great decision by the managers to go with Hollis and Nis in defence and the Togwell brothers in midfield.
