v Oxford City

I think everyone (bar one...) would agree that Matty was very good today and it’s obvious to see what skills he brings to the team. He was involved in all the important moments today and his work rate was top notch, sure he tired a little towards the end but that’s because he’s not played for a few weeks. Once he gets his first goal he’ll get a few.

You don't add time on for substitutions.

The only time you do is when they are deemed to be taking too long to leave the pitch at which point the referee will indicate this by raising his hand and pointing to his watch.

Jafooly, pretty certain referees do generally add time on for substitutions with the rule of thumb being thirty seconds but the exact amount of time being up to the ref.

Firstly well done to our players for bagging another 3 points despite not playing that well which is a real plus.

One thing I'm having great difficulty sussing out, particularly in midfield, is are the oppo players that much better than last seasons top teams or are we for some reason dropping too deep and allowing too much time and space. I only say this because for me Oxford looked that much quicker and sharper and for a lot of the time seemed to have the space to dominate the midfield.

Not sure where the Ref only got 1 minute of added time with us making 3 subs and Oxford 2 or 3.

MOTM for me was Matty Stevens who effort and tireless running over the 90 minutes deserved a couple of goals.

We made 3 subs but 1 of them was in the first half and there's were quick so only our 2 count = 1 minute (I guess)

Well done the Rebels another 3 hard earned points on the board.

Interesting to see a player sent off in three other matches each game ending in a draw all ways the team feel hard done by with a sending off and work harder for each other.

On the goals front interesting to see how harder it is for the promoted teams against tighter harder defences.

We have scored 9 in 9 games.

For Hereford it is 8 in 8 games.

Yes 9 goal's scored but by 8 different players, so Floody is top scorer with 2

Yes forwards are still wasteful and misfiring but we know what they can and will do The best defence in the league Torquay (conceded4) are 14th We have the second best defence (conceded7) and are 10th As soon as the goals and the confidence starts flowing we will surprise a lot of teams imo

Interesting to hear some negative thoughts about us dropping deeper and being more compact when off  the ball - after we have just kept two clean sheets.

In my opinion it's good to see us being pragmatic and maybe slightly smarter than in previous years. Sometimes we will be able to play a high line and constantly press high up the pitch, sometimes we will have to soak up pressure and get used to playing without the ball - as we have done well at points in the last two weeks.

Matty Stevens MoM for me - earned the penalty, earned the red card, could have earned another red, Floody should have put away the chance he created in the first half.

Also not a penalty IMO, keeper played the ball very firmly and took the man as a consequence, seems fine.

Not much to say about the game itself , soft penalty and the sending off decided the result but Matty was the difference with his ability to turn and run at the defence.

Having seen a few games now it seems like a pattern is developing in this league .

All games are tight, you get no easy rides and have to be on it from 1 to 90+ .

The Football is not noticeably better but the individual skill level and organisation are much higher.

Good football does not necessarily bring results - best footballing team I've sees this year were WSM and they are bottom of the table !

It's all going to be fine margin stuff. Our last 4 games could have gone in any combination of results. We could easily have been anywhere from 3rd to 17th.

I think we are sitting fairly OK.

Real tester next week. Looking forward to that.

After seeing the video there was definite contact  between the keeper and Matty Stevens and if a keeper comes bowling out like that he's always running the risk of giving away a penalty.

Anyway, if some people think that decision was bit harsh then the one not given in the second half on Matty was a stonewall penalty and wasn't given so I think in the end justice prevailed

What a photo did show was that the player was pulling Matty's shirt so again IMO the sending off was correct.

It was not a penalty in my opinion, and if it had been against us we would have been bitterly disappointed, and we were very fortunate to get it, however we have had numerous turned down and poor decisions go against us so won’t complain...

The red card is one of those where some would give it, others wouldn’t, matter of opinion, however the fact Matty got the wrong side of the defender and he was pulling his shirt back, in my opinion it was a red.

We created the better chances throughout the game, and deserved the win... we also looked pretty solid without the ball as someone else has mentioned, that person is correct that we have to be comfortable without the ball at times...

The biggest issue you normally find stepping up a level is conceding goals, however 7 from 9 games where we have used 6of our defenders in various combinations is a great return.
