v Oxford City

Oxford City will provide a stern test tomorrow and I can imagine it’ll be a tough tight match. Although reading the above preview they have a few players out, they still have had a decent start to the season especially as many had them down as relegation candidates. In Matt Paterson they have a sought after goalscorer who will need to be guarded closely. But after such a result for us last Saturday hopefully confidence is high and we can perform and get the desired result.

Well pleased with that result This is shaping up to be a tight league The first 12 teams in the table tonight either won or drew Although a lot of discussion and action has taken place recently regarding our attack the most pleasing aspect for me was another clean sheet and a resolute display by the defence I'm sure our defence will ensure we finish at worst in the top half of the table at seasons end

Good win and and clean sheet, Oxford played some nice stuff but were toothless and we looked organised and fairly comfortable without having to go up any extra gears. I think we benefitted from a really bad penalty call from the ref though.

great result , but i feel that we rode our luck a bit today, i think imo that we need to get a lot closer to the opposition and one or two maybe need to be a bit more aggressive there were a lot of opposition players allowed a lot of space and we didn't close them down quick enough which caused us a few problems, ok oxford didn't make those chances count , but its something i think we need to work on.

But IMO he should have given one against Matty Stevens in the second half.

Firstly well done to our players for bagging another 3 points despite not playing that well which is a real plus.

One thing I'm having great difficulty sussing out, particularly in midfield, is are the oppo players that much better than last seasons top teams or are we for some reason dropping too deep and allowing too much time and space. I only say this because for me Oxford looked that much quicker and sharper and for a lot of the time seemed to have the space to dominate the midfield.

Not sure where the Ref only got 1 minute of added time with us making 3 subs and Oxford 2 or 3.

MOTM for me was Matty Stevens who effort and tireless running over the 90 minutes deserved a couple of goals.

I agree, I too thought Oxford played good passing football and had they not gone down to ten men may have troubled us more. That said, did they have a shot on target? !

Wasn't a rip roaring game,by any means but wasn't the worst game ever, either. I thought defencely we were sound today and Sam Togwell marshalled us well. Creatively, though,I thought we were poor. You can credit Oxford for good defensive work but Slough first half going forward looked out of sorts.

We improved second half and put the game to bed against ten man Oxford but we were never at our fluent best.

Still, three points gained,so not to be sneezed at.

Picking a Slough man of the match today would have been a hard one,as no players stood out particularly.

George Wells got it officially and I wouldn't argue about it but I did think Josh Jackman and Sam Togwell ran him close.

You don't add time on for substitutions.

The only time you do is when they are deemed to be taking too long to leave the pitch at which point the referee will indicate this by raising his hand and pointing to his watch.

I thought Matty Stevens had an okay game but didn't think he worked that hard. A couple of times in the first half he was strolling rather than closing down. I did think, though, that he is willing to take the ball at a defender and will try and make something happen, which should serve us well.

For me he was about 7 out of 10. Not a bad home debut but I'm hoping for more fireworks to come from him.

You may have had a better view but I didn't think that one was a penalty. I thought he was going to ground and was looking for it.

Funny how people see things differently.

I was right by the penalty incident and im convinced it was a blatant penalty, yes matty knew it was coming but the keeper didnt get any of the ball.

Personally i thought matty was motm and constantly drove and got goal side if defender which is exactly what we having been missing so far this season.

Regardless another 3 points which we needed.

Have to disagree there 3spirit I thought Matty Stevens worked his nuts off and cause their defence a lot of problems.

On the penalty decision that was given I was too far away but people I spoke to who were nearer said the keeper got the ball but that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't a penalty.

The sending off was definitely a red card. Matty got in front of the defender, who was the last man, and the only way he could stop him going through on goal was to foul him.

Perhaps I'm a hard taskmaster. :)     He was by no means poor and looked like he will cause problems for defenders.

Perhaps I was expecting a bit more, that's all.

Well done the Rebels another 3 hard earned points on the board.

Interesting to see a player sent off in three other matches each game ending in a draw all ways the team feel hard done by with a sending off and work harder for each other.

On the goals front interesting to see how harder it is for the promoted teams against tighter harder defences.

We have scored 9 in 9 games.

For Hereford it is 8 in 8 games.
