Perry Coles departs

Just seen Perry’s tweet, read into the wording what you will

Not sure there's much to read. He is gutted that it has come to an end could simply mean he strongly wishes that could play every week but feels he must move on to get regular football. Entirely consistent with club statement and everything Jon and Neil have said.

Sorry to see Perry leave but definitely not a surprise. Always looked likely that he would be the one to go.

 

Ironically, he wouldn't have been the first player I rushed out the door [despite what Glen STFC insinuates about me only liking tall strikers], as I thought he still had a lot to offer Slough this season, in the way of his non stop work ethic,his age and his impulsive shooting but saying that, like our managers, I don't view him as a first or second choice striker now we're in the Conference South.

Chris Flood is my first choice striker and my second choice isn't even at the club.

 

Matty Stevens I've only seen play twice [i think?] so while he looks a great signing on paper, I need to see him in action before making my mind up about him.

 

Anyway, good luck to Perry Coles.He will be a great signing for someone.

Agree that Perry was behind Floody and now Matty Stevens (providing he comes good) but on current form I'd have put him as our 3rd choice striker.

He is gutted because he wanted to stay with us but with limited game time and at least 2 clubs putting in approaches for him he has left to play more football.

That's disappointing ...... 13 goals in 27 appearances for us and quite a few appearances from the bench.

 

With only two starts (and a goal in one of those) in eight matches this season, it's not surprising he has decided to move on for regular football ........ in my opinion he's a very good player and will score a lot of goals at step 3 if he is at a club challenging for the title.

 

Thanks for your fantastic contribution to our promotion and I wish you lots of success in the future.

Not worth saying as we've missed the boat on him. He might be one for next season,though? If we haven't a settled strike force,by then.

 

Looking forward to Saturday's game with Oxford, they have been playing well by all accounts and I'm expecting a evenly fought game.

Should be the sort of game where we can easily see what attributes Matt Stevens brings to our team.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes back to Farnborough. There’s a few other local step 3 he may be interesting.

 

 

The two clubs that seem to be favourite to sign him are Hartley Wintney and Farnborough.

In the least shocking news of the season so far, Perry Coles has returned to Farnborough.
