Tuffley Rebel
The band was great in the good old days of Wexham Park.. Mid to late 90's I seem to recall a drum, occasionally a trumpet, and one particular game some whistles. That era was also the rise to prominence of "All The Rebels, so many Rebels ...." and "Boing, boing, Rebels, Rebels" Living in Gloucester now I only get to a handful of games a season but I definitely heard the former sung several times at Evesham the other week but not the latter. HEAVY TRUCKER
going back further there used to be a band at the dolphin, the last time i can remember a band we had was at wexham park the only trouble was that at a few away grounds the instruments were barred the clubs siting upsetting the local residents or stadium safety, at the time it was thought that these teams see the band as such a threat (extra man syndrome) that they thought banning them removed our so called advantage
Kaiser Gibbs Batman (KGB)
The "Kop Choir" of the mid '60's came to the fore during the club's years of success in the top division of the Athenian League and both the F A and F A Amateur Cups under the guiding hand of Bob Gibbs. I don't recall there being any musical instruments as such in those days. Its members were particularly adept at rewording hit songs of the day to include references to Slough Town. So, as Petula Clark never sung, " When you're alone and life is making you lonely, you can always watch-Slough Town!" And, as the Goons used to say, there was more where that came from. Sounds dreadfully corny now but it helped to develop the "big crowd" atmosphere at those important games where gates of 1,500+ were commonplace.
