In the fourth minute Tobi Coker neatly placed his shot over Lewis Moore and into the net for the opening goal. Leon McKenzie went close with a shot just wide of the goal in the ninth minute, and Dagenham, although back peddling for much of the half, could have drawn level with a fine shot from James Blanchfield that was tipped over the bar for a corner. Lanre Balogun almost broke through but was tackled by Dave Collis, but for the most part the play centred around the Dagenham end of the pitch. After a good build up involving Leon McKenzie, Theo Fairweather-Johnson evaded his marker and slotted a shot past Moore in on 31 minutes. It was one way traffic and three minutes later a Coker shot was handled by Michael Agboola, and Leon McKenzie stepped up to take the penalty and slotted it into the back of the net. The fourth goal arrived on 43 minutes when Theo Fairweather-Johnson netted his second of the game as he placed into past Moore. On the stroke of half-time Daggers pulled a goal back when Jack Munns was brought down. He took the spot kick himself, and although the keeper made a fine save, Munns followed up to force the ball over the line. With numerous changes after the interval, Dagenham came much more into the game, and Munns again went close, but pressure paid rewards on 65 minutes when Leighton powered a header into the net. Hornchurch eventually came back into the game as an attacking force, and could have added to their lead, with George Saunders firing a shot narrowly wide, but the final 4-2 scoreline was a reasonable reflection of a match, dominated by Hornchurch in the first half, but Dagenham came back strongly in the second period. Wivenhoe Urchin
Good performance and pleasantly surprised by how we cut through a Dagenham team, which I feel is probably the worst national league team we have played this decade.
