I would’ve taken a point before the game, now i’m not so sure...

They had a couple of moments but we were the better team by quite a bit in my opinion, they are a full time team??? Not for me, they are a team full of big units and that’s it!

Keep this level up boys and we’ll have more good days than bad in this league... COYR!

A fair, hard earnt point. So gutting we couldn’t have nicked it with that penalty... great crowd (even though it didn’t look that much) I suppose they must have had around 300? But a great start only one narrow defeat against fancied opposition, so we should all be very proud so far.

Let’s be honest, Jack saved us twice. Wasn’t impressed with Torquay, expected more from them although they did step it up in the second half. Unless they dramatically improve or bring in some top players I can’t see them being promoted.

Yes, 2 great saves but they were average and we were the better team... When you consider they are full time a point is like a win BUT no way will they get promoted with that team... We should’ve had 2 penalties, even their subs in the first half were shocked it wasn’t given, blatant pull back on Flood...

Think we need to get Gareth Southgate in to,help with our penalties..!

As soon as we got the pen I worried that Dobbo was already off.Never thought Dunny looked like he would score.

Thought Ben would take it , he has the attitude of a penalty taker !

Once again though nothing to get scared of in this league , just shows it's fine margins that count .

We have hit the woodwork in first 4 games and missed penalty in 5th.

Stan is spot on! Being the better team doesn't win points nor does hitting posts, crossbars or failing to convert penalties We've got 8 points from 15 and our next game is against the only pointless rock bottom side I would have happily settled for that before the opening day Its just so frustrating to know how much better things could have been Torquay certainly didn't look like a full time side For starters they should have been a lot fitter than us and weren't They know how to shut up shop but had little imaginative or constructive to offer Yes we've bedded in well and I would expect at least a mid table finish come seasons end

I have to say i wasn't overly impressed with Torquay. Weston Supermare kept the ball better ,although if either had a half decent forward we may well have lost both games.Ironic that our first clean sheet was against what was supposed to be our strongest opponent so far.

Have to agree with Irishadrian that at present we look a mid table side which is more than adequate, although there will be much stiffer tests to come.

Big shout out to the large away following today, & the best chant has to be them calling us "dirty northern b***ards".LOL.

Cagey first half where I think we were marginally the better side creating the better chances.

As the second half wore on the game started to open up with chances being created by both sides.

We started to push forward looking for the winning goal and this allowed Torquay to open us up on the counter attack with Jack Turner coming to our rescue with a couple of blinding saves. The penalty miss was gutting but on reflection a draw was possibly a fair result.

Between Jack Turner, Sam Togwell and Simon Dunn for MOTM.

I gave it to Sam Togwell for his assured and commanding display over the 90 + minutes

Match report and photos from the Torquay game

https://thegrassrootstourist.com/2018/08/18/slough-town-fc/

I missed the game yesterday, after getting a poxy migraine, so this report makes interesting reading, especially as it's not from a Slough fan's biased view.

He sums up the Slough team very well, considering he's only seen Slough play once. It was good that Slough wasn't outclassed and thus far our beloved team has done us proud.

Onto the next one......

Yes, an excellent report and read from GRTourist.

Looking at the Torquay forum they are calling for Gary Owers to be sacked after 5 games basically saying because they are full time and a big club they should be walking this 'pub league'.

I think one post on the Torquay forum hits the nail on the head as regards Torquay being full time.

It say's that it's to their detriment that Torquay decided to stay full time and that this decision has meant that they have only managed to sign the 'dregs of the pro game' whilst other teams in this league have signed the better quality players who have good paying jobs giving them a better standard of living by staying part time.
