I see Torquay are claiming they had between 300/320 fans at Oxford If true we should be looking at a crowd well in excess of 1000 and a good take on food and drink We must also stop pretending we are deaf mutes and make real noise from the KO.

I would be surprised if that many Torquay fans travelled to Oxford for a midweek match, but can’t find any attendance figures for the match.

 

If it was around 600 they may well have though.

I think there will be a lot of interest in this game and I'd like to think we'll break the 1,000 barrier.

I do think we will break the 1,000 for the home game against Woking on 17th November & also the New Years Day match at home to Wealdstone..... but I think it’s a long way for a big Torquay following, and although usual Premier League followers would possibly be interested, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham & West Ham all playing in London Saturday we are not going to attract many of them.

Oxfords previous home gate on Saturday 4/8 was just 282 !

I recall seeing an attendance in the 500’s for the Oxford City v Torquay United match although annoyingly now can’t find it. If that was correct and taking into account Oxford City’s other home crowd was 282 you’d say there were 200-250 from Torquay United last night. I would expect around 300 to make the journey to us on Saturday and I’d like to think we could muster 800 odd so I’m confident it’ll be 1,000+.

I really hope it is..... it would create a great atmosphere and be good for our club financially.

I’m guessing it’ll be segregated and I really hope we don’t give them one whole end. With their expected numbers (and I’m sure the clubs would have been in contact with each other regarding this) we should give them some seats in the small stand plus the flat standing alongside it which would comfortably hold around 400. We should give ourselves every advantage and having our fans packed behind each goal is one of them.

Another 250-300 will go to Slough on Saturday and will see Torquay lose again. slough unlike Oxford City are a club on the up they've just got promoted from the Southern Prem which was a minefield of a division last year where the top 5 all got 90+ points. They will be streets ahead of Oxford city who are just trying to survive this year, and Oxford City ran rings round us for 45minutes.

Reading their forum they are quite unhappy with their recent performances.

 

I was told that they usually do travel in numbers so would expect 250 plus coming on Saturday.

Of course the last time the Rebels were home to Torquay united the gate was just under 2400!

This was the only previous meeting between the two sides an FA Cup tie back in 1993 25 years ago We lost 1-2.

I did see somewhere that Torquay fans don't change ends at half time. Assume this is a habit from their league days but just something to be aware of in case it does happen, might get a bit crowded.

My best mate growing up in a small cul-de-sac in Langley was a Torquay fan. Remember going with him to watch them at Wembley in the Division 4 Playoff Final against Blackpool in the early 90s. So strange to see the teams in the same league competing against each other.

According to the Torquay twitter main page they are all heading for Holloways Park on Sat. That'll make it a bit easier!
