Great character and spirit from the team tonight and some good changes and tweaks to turn it around.

Agree that we weren't great for an hour. WSM knocked the ball around well without creating too much and I felt we started to go direct again to try and get some joy. For me, the key change actually was Dobbo appearing to play more centrally just behind Flood and Coles when they came on. It meant we were able to get some combination play going and the strikers could play on the shoulder rather than backs to goal.

Once our tails were up we showed again that we could play some good stuff and at a high tempo. Should hopefully give the players more belief, if needed, that they are good enough at this level to play their natural game.

Bit of a flat atmosphere in the first half, wish we could get singing/chanting from the off rather than just waiting for something to happen.

Thought it wasn't our night when Dobbo hit the post, but as ever our "bouncebackability" came through again.

My man of the match would go to Josh Jackman.

Looking forward to Saturday and a much bigger (and noisier) crowd.

COYR!

First half was a bit of a non event really apart from a great goal from them . Was not unduly worried but they were excellent at the start of the second half , really played it around and closed us down at all times . Their no 10 was everywhere and a class act .

But we hung in there .pivotal moment was Scott's block whether 9 looked like making it 2-1 to them we popped it back up,field and bang we were 2-1 up .

Really important to get points in games like that.

or hitting the target with a shot..... and then it all changed, was it inspired substitutions or a last roll of the dice?

Personally I don’t care which one it was, or if it was Weston running out of steam (they were leading 2-0 on Saturday and lost 3-2), I’m just pleased we came away with the three points.

were capable of stringing half a dozen passes together or hitting the target with a shot..... and then it all changed, was it inspired substitutions or a last roll of the dice?

Wouldn't say dreadful performance, as we had a couple of clear cut chances first half, one of which was cleared off the line but we certainly struggled to get into our stride.Have to credit Weston Super Mare there, though, as their defenders and midfielders stifled a lot of our play.

I thought WSM weren't a bad outfit. Played some decent football but without much threat up front.

Entertainment value wise, the first half did seem dreary. Credit to our managers they turned the game around by getting the substitutions spot on. All three were excellent when they came on. I always felt that if we could score one goal,we would get two and so it proved. Perry Coles, certainly had his shooting boots on. He was desperately unlucky when he struck the post.

All three goals tonight were corkers.

Also a special mention for Josh Jackman,as others have said,he had a great game.

Bakes and Unders will have a few tough decisions, on who makes the starting eleven against Torquay after tonight's performance.

Not sure if it's a good thing Torquay losing tonight,as Saturday they are going to want to get back to winning ways.By the sound of it they resorted to playing a long ball game tonight, which may suit us if they do that with us.

Bring it on.

I don't think it was a dreadful first half performance.

I thought Weston looked a decent side playing some nice football controlling the first 25 minutes without threatening. We then started to get a foot hold in the game but poor finishing let us down and we ended up conceding just before half time.

We started the second half brightly but again spurned a couple of good chances at which point it looked like it wasn't going to be our night.

Cue the 3 substitutions which turned the game on it's head.

Things started to click and we suddenly looked a real threat.

TBH I don't think Dobbo was having his best night but in typical Dobbo fashion he puts in a peach of a cross and Floody gets on the end of it for the equaliser.

Perry Coles then scores an absolute beauty to seal the points.

If I'm totally honest I was surprised and disappointed that Perry Coles didn't start the game and along with both Floody and Togs took the game by the scruff of the neck to earn us the points against what I thought was a good Weston team.

Probably not a surprise but Truro had an attendance of 159 in their 2-1 defeat to Chippenham.

Surely the lowest attendance in the history of the National South League.

Last season Oxford recorded a low of 125. In 15/16 Whitehawk had a low of 96 which is quite remarkable for this level. However they beat that easily in 13/14 when just 57 turned up to watch their match against Boreham Wood.

With due respect Irishadrian, Torquay losing to Oxford will have no bearing on Saturday's outcome.

we will have to agree to differ about that It will be about mindset and confidence We are the new boys and Torquay one of the hot favourites yet we both have the same points and we go into this game after two consecutive wins whilst they had an unexpected loss to one of the poorer teams Let's see what happens!

I was very surprised to see Perry Coles not starting last night BUT we have a very strong squad which equals a very strong starting 11 whoever starts... BUT again haha... At the end of last season, I felt Coles and Flood complimented each other very well and were very threatening, and last night proved to me, THAT AT THE MOMENT, the 2 of them should start games together... This is no disrespect to Ben Harris or Manny Williams as both are very good players with different attributes, just feel Flood and Coles should start together for a while...

There was a reason that Perry didn’t start which will remain “in-house” but everyone in the changing room was delighted for him, coming on as he did and scoring a fantastic winning goal.

Hi Jon, thanks for this... Love the insight you and Bakes give!

I don't think Mark Jones, Oxford City's manager is anyone's fool. He has lost some of his better players from last season but appears to be rebuilding well without necessarily replacing them with the quality he had last season.

It's early days for Oxford, Torquay and Slough.

It's probably a good time to play Torquay,as their manager appears to be under pressure to achieve results but hasn't got a settled side yet. That's to our advantage.

The good thing is Slough have nothing to lose.We won't be viewed as favourites for the game,so if our players play with no fear, we have every chance of causing an upset like Oxford did last night.
