From that report, some confusion over how they think we will do this season:-

‘A tough-tackling and hard-working central midfielder, Togwell adds experience to the Slough midfield and could prove key in their survival in the National League South.’

Followed a few lines later with :-

Luke Gerrard saying ‘I believe that they are going to have a say in the National League South this year.’

Seriously, with only one, possibly two pre season games left before the big kick off this is obviously a big test and a chance to see how our players cope with a top Conference National side.

RR I agree so long as both managements play squads likely to chosen for the big kick off IMO the early pre season games with virtually different sides in both halves don't really tell us much Good to let managers see trialists and wanabees and good to bring up to match fitness

What an impressive performance by our lads tonight, our managers must be chuffed with that.

What was really pleasing as well, was that our team didn't get intimidated by some of the strong challenges that was being made, this will stand us in good stead as we are bound to face teams in the Conference South, who will adopt the same policy.

Sam Togwell looked the part tonight,he had a storming game. Don't wish to pick out players,as I thought everyone of the squad involved played well, and we looked sharp and fit and could easily start the league season tomorrow if we had to.

One player I will mention, though, was Josh Jackman who is coming on leaps and bounds.Had his work cut out tonight but wasn't overawed and put in a considerable effort.Still, a few things to work on but he is getting there.

Strong performance tonight with the result being about right to reflect that. I know Ben Harris can be a bit of a wind up merchant but it was embarrassing their big defenders getting so upset and reacting like they were offended by him actually putting himself about. Three separate incidents where they went for him, in a friendly! That's not including the 11 going for Hollis off the ball. Bizarre behaviour.

I've been really impressed with Sam Togwell so far and last word for Dobbo, who was particularly excellent and deserved his goal.

Bigger (size wise) and the better team status wise, tonight was a perfect example of how to play and beat a team with those advantages.

From the start of the game our work rate and closing down was top draw, defensively we were solid and then we score three goals, two from perfect crosses from Dobbo and one from sheer determination from Floody and Dobbo.

It might have been a pre season friendly on paper but the game was anything but with both teams showing the urgency and desire to want to win the game.

Our biggest test and a thoroughly deserved win.

Agree about Sam Togwell, he was the old experience head who talked and marshaled everything at the back. Something I think we are going to need in spades this season.
