AnfieldTowner
Two fairly typical, though competitive, 1 hour pre-season matches at Cheshunt yesterday against AFC Hornchurch and our hosts. Another very hot day on a very dry, hard pitch - expect we'll be having those for a while yet, we saw numerous trialists again. Think there were probably 5 in the first game (lost 2-1 to Hornchurch) and about 8 in the second (drew 1-1 with Cheshunt). As we played two completely different sides in each match, I've no idea how we also managed to put out an U23s side at Walthamstow! Was nice to see Taylor playing, even if it was for Cheshunt, good luck to him for this season. Well done to Cheshunt for putting on a successful day and for winning their Community Cup - a nice idea, with some funds made for charity, I thought the format worked well (although I missed Hornchurch's first goal due to traffic in Cheshunt and the match starting a little earlier than advertised - not the end of the world!).
