tringarmy
Either to promote Amersham who finished 6th in Div 2 or add in a new club who’ve never played competitively before except by the looks of it on FIFA! I’m sure there are loads in D1 excited about travelling to the town of Hashtag next season.

hollower
for us - the fact that Potton now have five local derbies is a major plus. Not sure about the trips to North West London in midweek !
Arsenal fan
It would help if the FA Leagues Committee explained each time why they use their discretion to override their normal rules. Why were Stotfold the only one of 14 step 5 bottom clubs not to be relegated? Was it because of Sun Sports (record expunged)? Why did Hashtag United get parachuted in at step 6 instead of starting at step 7? Are the two cases linked?SSMFL can keep Stotfold if they do not fight a club being parachuted in at step 6- like they tried to with Biggleswade FC and lost.and if they sacrifice Holmer Green, Hoddesdon and St Mags to tidy up geography. There are loads of vacancies across the country at step 6 so why did second bottom Broxbourne go down when even some bottom step 6 sides were given reprieves? People should not have a go at Amersham. They met the normal rules, top 5 finish at step 7 and second highest in div. 2 with lights wanting to go up. Why should Winslow United expect to go up to step 5? The rule was top two div. 1 go up and they did, 3rd placed club misses out. Step 5 is full up at 14x 20 team divisions or am I missing something like the FA promoting from other step 6 leagues around the country teams that did not finish high enough on the normal rules? Winslow Boy
Winslow hoped to go up, didn’t expect to. With Southall moving out of the South Mids, I am told that they were informed 3rd could be good enough, you would think that at least one side from Prem would be relegated and that then a promotion place would fall to Winslow. It didn’t, Potton got moved sideways, nobody got relegated and that’s that. Amersham finished 6th didn’t they? I also think here is a historical precedent for promotion from div 1 finishing 3rd, Hoddesdon 12/13 I think from recent memory, so also not especially odd. League still has to ratify all this so final decision on the farce that is Hashtag etc.... rests with them. Also the Whole Buckingham Town thing is weird, clearly an MK team just taking their place in the pyramid and I’ve heard they will be renamed MK Irish next year so..... also they have refused talks about moving back to the old ground, make of all this what you will. Arsenal fan
The Buckingham Town MK Irish situation is new to me. Is Winslow boy hinting at getting round two rules: 1. no groundshares to get promotion or avoid relegation and 2. merged teams start in the division of the lower placed team? These days the FA Leagues Committee decides who is where in steps 5 & 6 so the SSMFL will not be able to change it. Not much of a choice at the AGM these days- ratify the FA dictated constitution for those divisions or leave the National League System. The original idea of the pyramid was an end to the old boys network, replacing it with a meritocracy. If teams finished high enough they went up in place of the low placed teams (subject to ground grading). All very fair. The two rules above were meant to close Q jumping. Good ideas ruined in practice by a Leagues Committee that like playing god, overriding normal rules and parachuting in teams from nowhere. Good luck to all clubs appealing against unfairness. Winslow Boy
No it’s neither a groundshare issue or even a merger (of it is its with Gallaticos or Clean Slate for instance then yes that rule is broken), more akin to MK Dons situation I would say, my impression of the Buckingham Town situation is - Buckingham Town folded, Vince Hyde knows nothing of what is going on with the current situation. Nobody and nothing connected to Buckingham Town exists. The Irish Centre and another club in MK want a team and exploiting this situation has given them that chance, I think they will take the name, badge and place in the pyramid and then rename the team at the earliest opportunity, there is no interest I guarantee in these guys taking Buckingham back to Buckingham, the university are more than willing to discuss Ford Mesdow. This is not Buckingham Town. Nobody connected to this version is willing to come forward and talk about what’s happening. Why not start their own club and get on with it like everyone else? Still, more deserving of a place than # who wont be around in 5 years.
Winslow Boy
Hashtag have appealed. They don’t want to be in this league. Apparently they think it’s beneath them and they should be higher or in a better league. Also isn’t there a club already sharing at Harringey?? And so much for groundshare rules eh?!! Winslow Boy
The appeal that Hashtag have launched is only because they want to be in a different league geographically nothing to do with attitude. Heard a true Buckingham Town legend is going to be their manager but it will still be an MK club and certain the name will be changed.
Jonno
For the avoidance of doubt anyone may have, and you will know if I am talking to you right now, my comments are my own and do not reflect those of the club I support. I am a fan of Hoddesdon Town FC and am NOT a committee member or a representative of the club. I left my position on the Hoddesdon Town committee a number of years ago. To attempt to use my opinion as a gauge of the clubs feelings, and to communicate my opinion to the club in official dealings regarding the administration of either the club or the league, is both poorly thought out and thoroughly unprofessional. My opinion may be unpopular but is is just that, MY opinion. If you wish to canvas the opinion of the committee, might I suggest you write to the Chairman, who I am sure will be more than happy to provide it. Perhaps I should do as many others do on here, and post under a fake name and fake profile picture and hide behind my keyboard. That way, my comments can’t be attributed to the official club line. Incredible.

Karen Browne
Could anyone advise me roughly when the new season will start for Div 1? I guess around late August.... I have advised the SSML Management Committee that the season should start for ALL Divisions on Saturday 4th August. The start date will be announced at the AGM
