Well not a rumour I have heard, and I guess we should know if it involves us..... so if there is a question, Dave Tarpey is not coming to us.

Party pooper ? You could let us get our hopes up! When do you expect any new signings to be announced Bakes?

Maidenhead are of course (currently) bigger than us, their average crowd is more than double for a start. Pretty sure they’d also be paying more than us, maybe not every single player but certainly the vast majority, they are a Conference National side after all. I don’t see why Tarpey wouldn’t come here although only on loan. He’d get game time plus being a loan a deal would be agreed regarding his wages.

Good point Glen but not sure why we'd accommodate Tarpey for the short term at the expense of our regular strikers.

How many times have you seen him play, Glen? 

 

I think I've only seen him play once or twice, so am in no position to judge him but he wouldn't be the type of striker I would go after, bearing in mind the strikers we currently have.

 

I would take a chance on a striker such as Lloyd Macklin, who's played for Basingstoke,Met Police and Hayes/Yeading and got signed by Steve King for Whitehawk in the Conference South last season.

To me he's strong, direct, can hold off a player, has pace in the box and will get goals.

Relatively cheap,I would have thought,too.

 

Obviously, there's plenty of other good candidates about, the trouble is the best one's get snapped up early, so if we are after a forward, I hope we get in early with it.

Please check out his stats. He has not scored double figures in a season ever. We have 2 wide players who scored more goals last season than he has managed in any season in his career.

 

Please can we stop putting players on a pedastal and just assume they are better than what we have just because they played a few games (in a relegated side in this case) in the conference south last season.

 

And 3spirit which one of the 4 strikers who helped us get promoted would you be casting aside now to make room for this player?
