Our chairman

Hope I'm okay writing about this subject now but was wondering, if Steve has changed his mind about leaving Slough FC and is staying with us next season, as Bakes has mentioned that budgets have been planned.

Sure the fans would like to know what the situation is.

I'm one who would also like to know The lack of information is certainly not typical of Steve Before a ball was kicked last season we had the bad news that he would be leaving " in the very near future" and we are preparing for another season at present I hope he's staying but would like to know!

Why don’t we keep quiet and hope he’s so happy about the cup run, promotion, the new ground and the new challenge of the National South that he’s forgotten all about stepping down....... the Club has been very successful and is in good hands with Steve, long may it continue to be so.

I agree, Curtis, that Steve is/has been a brilliant chairman for our club but I don't see what is so wrong with asking an open and straight forward question about his staying or going.

It's been through his leadership that the club has progressed on and off the field with an open and honest policy.

Let's not go back to the bad old days of secrets and chinese whispers.

Even if he/the club issued a statement that he is undecided or is in talks with someone else taking over or whatever, least the fans would have something to go on.

You say about open policy, however Steve has actually kept fairly quiet about pretty much everything to do with the actual running of the club.  All of the open stuff is from Neil and Jon and to do with what's on the pitch.  Steve is a very private person and only lets information out on a need to know basis - even to those on the club's committees.

ARAAS, you know Steve better than I, and I expect you know the workings of the club better, however we are both fans of the club and it just seems puzzling that Steve makes a big statement saying he's stepping down,a good while ago, and yet fans have heard nothing since.

You may have inside information and are privvy to what's going on but I can't understand why there's deafening silence about the issue, when fans are only asking whether he's staying or going.

The "Chairman's look ahead" was issued on 11th. August 2017. It stated, "I will be standing down as Chairman in the very near future ... after ten years".

There was no mention of his going anywhere or leaving the club and I am not aware that he has any intention of doing either of those.

Steve and his wife Sally do a lot of work for the club and are very approachable on match days and at events.

Perhaps we should wait for the "Chairman's look ahead" this August to see whether a new chairman has been appointed or Steve is continuing until the right person is found.

Shredding Green

That's also my understanding of his statement

Chairman is just titular. Since the club is owned by a company owned and controlled by Steve I never saw anything in his statement that suggested he was leaving and said so in my post on 13th Aug. The only question is Are we having a new Chairman?

I should point out that I don't have any more information on Steve's position than anyone else (as pointed out in my previous post, need to know basis!).

Also I'm of the opinion that no news is good news and I'm happy to wait until we hear otherwise as to whether Steve will be staying as chairman.

I think we should just all enjoy having a successful team after many years of hurt... If Steve steps down he steps down, and he will step down having dragged us from the depths of despair to the National League South, he would step down with my blessing for what it's worth as all the the wranglings with the council etc may have taken their toll, I don't quite know how he and all others involved have put up with what they have over the years... If he stays then great as he may want to take us one step further and back to where we belong in my opinion, the Conference.

I am sure Steve will not allow the club to be taken over by someone who does not have the same values and principles as himself.
