GlenSTFC
Strong set of matches with home to Reading being the standout. Hopefully they’ll bring some a team with some first team players which will help attract a decent crowd. Maybe we can let Kettering win this one for a change! Didn’t realise the season started so early (4th August).
3spirit
Looks a strong line up of fixtures. Will there be any additional ones added? I was thinking more of a light work out against say, a Hellenic Premier side, early doors. I, too, think it's an early start of the Conference South fixtures. Is there any reasoning to it? GlenSTFC
I think 7 is more than enough. So we’re playing 5 sides a league below, 1 a league above and Reading. I thought maybe at least one against a side at our new level but doesn’t overly matter.
Reading Rebel
4th August? that's me buggered I've booked a holiday for then thinking it would be the second week in August at the earliest.

To play a friendly against someone at our level, it would have to be a Conference North team, which isn't very feasible,is it? The pre-season fixture list look a good set of tough challenges. I was just reasoning that there may be room for a lighter run out,as a loosener to a nearby lower club.
A Rebel and a Saint
Probably not as simple as that Glen given that to get a team at our level (assuming you don't play a team that you're going to come across in the league) you'd have to either get a team from the Conference North down or us go up there, seems a bit excessive. Not like being at step 3 when it's only a short distance to the Isthmian teams. Agree with the other comments, a very strong and challenging set of fixtures. Good to see another prestige home friendly against a league side.

GlenSTFC
Hey don’t worry you’re not the only going on holiday during football season.
GlenSTFC
Ok fair comment about playing teams at our level as we’d obviously not play someone in our league and the National North would be too far for most.
Neil Baker
Just on playing step 2 sides, we did try the closest North teams which were Brackley and Leamington, however we were unable to finalise with either of them, and as others have said we will not play someone in our league. So very limited on this front.
Sir Rebel1965
As for playing the same level as us I think Reading fit the bill currently, but that might be being generous to them.
3spirit
According to the Basingstoke FC website and the Basingstoke forum, Eastleigh are playing a friendly against Basingstoke on the 17th July. Might be worth verifying as Slough might not be expected.
GlenSTFC
Yes that friendly has already been taken off from the official website. Neil tweeted that he was let down and was looking for another club to play, don’t know if one has been found yet.
Reading Rebel
Good old Basingstoke. I suppose it's their prerogative to pick and choose and not care about who they let down.

Neil Baker
We will now be playing Kingstonian at home that evening.
Reading Rebel
Big spending Kingstonian, that'll be a good friendly. Of course the Ist return of Elliott Buchanan since his day's as a rebel.
Reading Rebel
We now have Hartley Wintney away instead of the Kettering game. Personally, being a new ground to visit I prefer this game over Kettering.
GlenSTFC
Are Kettering still sulking about all their important defeats to us? Yes HW suits me nicely being just down the road and a new ground.
