We have not won a division - we won promotion.

Apologies there, Rebel 1965.  Play off results cloud us old school !

There's nothing wrong to gain promotion through the play offs,if that is the rules.

I'm just one of those old gits, who remembers when your team had to be in first place to get promoted ! lol !

Freddie Grant is a left back, we don't need one of those........unless you know different !

He seems highly rated,so I wouldn't think he would be short of offers.

I would prefer to go after Godfrey Poku - ex Woking and Oxford City.

Latest tweet a few day's ago from Godfrey Poku: When one door closes another one opens.

Out of curiosity RR how many of their players have you seen play more than 3 times?

Or are you basing it on their reputations ?

Based purely on career to date, supporters/managers reaction to them leaving (which normally is a pretty reliable source), match reports, videos where available etc.

I wouldn't mind betting that a fair few managers base their pre-season signings on reports/research other than their own eyes.

John Terry has had a fantastic career at Chelsea, and they were gutted when he left saying nice things about him, however I watched him at Wembley for Villa and he was awful (and had been on numerous occasions this season) some say his legs have gone?

Reputation and career to date does not constitute a top signing IMO, lots of different factors play a part.

In terms of players signed last year then we had seen each and every player we signed on numerous occasions, you take the odd gamble every now and then, but in the main a lot of time and work goes into signing players, and the more successful managers work harder, and make less mistakes with these signings, obviously there is an element of luck with this too.

A lot of their fans aren’t overly impressive with the quality of signings! They do seem to moan more than others.

As previously said the Wealdstone supporters are notorious for slating the manager and players when things don't go right.

BW has been in the job for 5 minutes and supporters on their forum wanted him out but because he's got rid of a lot of last seasons squad he's been given some slack. He's now signed the players he wants so the pressure is really on to get it right pretty damn quick.

If we had a choice, it would be good to play Wealdstone, Woking and Hampton early in the season before they get into their stride, as all of them are having major overhauls and with Slough very settled, we would have a great chance of picking up points against them

Not that we can't later in the season but sure they will be a harder to come by.

Out of those three clubs,I think Bobby Wilkinson will have the hardest job, as Wealdstone fans seem split on his managerial input so far and he seems to be chopping and changing his mind on the way he wants to play,in an effort to get better results.

He's picked up some good individual talent but whether he can mould them into a team/fully functioning squad, alongside the 7 or so remaining players of last season.lot,  and then hit the ground running to keep the fans off his back remains to be seen.

Alan Dowson and Gary McCann will surely be afforded, at least a season, to turn it around.

Woking will be expecting a good cup run and getting near or in the play offs, whereas I would think Hampton would be satisfied with a mid table finish, if they look like they are building something better for the long term.

Whatever, looking forward to watching us pit our wits against them.

Pretty sure the Woking board and fans would demand top spot, if not promotion via the play offs! Of course it won’t be easy and there’s probably 4 or 5 other very strong contenders for top spot but given Woking’s stature and I’m sure if they’re doing well they could command 2,500+ crowds.

Also isn't that the art of a good manager, when a so called has been, can be turned back into a winner.

I thought John Terry looked jaded as a Premiership player season before last but I also thought that Steve Bruce was right to sign him, as having that character and experience in a side aiming for Championship glory, for a side which lacked players who aren't used to winning much, was a clever move.

No managers get everything right regarding signings but there are certainly some managers who are great motivators and are willing to take a chance, on a maverick or an untested youngster.

Whereas some managers just need to have yes men around them.

No right or wrong way to this. Just the manager's prerogative.

A lot of Chelsea fans were gutted when JT left but I'm sure not all based upon his ability but also based upon sentiment due to what he'd done for Chelsea over the years. I'm also sure that there were some who said his time had come because at 37 his legs had gone. Villa went for experience and more in hope that at a level below he still had enough in his legs to do a job for them which very nearly payed off.

Of course reputation and career doesn't guarantee a top signing with other factors playing a part but unless a manager cuts down the odds of picking a wrong un by actually seeing them play a few times then that is all they can go by. As you say in general the successful managers work that bit harder and as a result generally make less mistakes with their signings.

Billericay owner Glen Tampering has stated that he has set a playing budget of 15k a week with his contribution being 2k a week. He also expects home attendances to be around the 1,500 mark.

Their early bird season ticket offer has now finished and they have sold somewhere around 300.

I beliveve  that in 1992-1993 season, we won promotion back to the Conference, after finishing 2nd to Enfield. As Enfiled allegedly cooked their books
