Conference South

From what I remember when he trialed with us he thought he look decent and had skill and pace. Obviously not the big forward a certain fan is craving/protesting for... but maybe this higher level might be too much? Be interested to see if Woking take a gamble.

GlenSTFC, it's all about opinions. In Paul Hodges case, I thought he looked okay in the pre-season before last but nothing better than what we already had at the time.

As a cheap signing, Woking may take a chance on him as a squad player but there's no way he would play week in week out for Woking's first team. He wouldn't be good enough.

He wouldn't be good enough for the Slough side, let alone Woking but for the right team he would be a good acquisition. I would have thought Farnborough would have been more appropriate for him currently.

As for Slough, I think we're having a good pre-season but I feel we are a couple of experienced Conference South players light in crucial positions [centre half and centre forward], to compete with the best in this division.

I think we have a good enough squad for August and September but October and November will be the start of testing times for us. I wouldn't be surprised to see us recruit new players around Nov/Dec.

I’d say he’s better than your opinion of ok if a recently relegated Conference National club have taken an interest in him and have obviously watched him.

Well,he's got a good record of scoring goals at Hartley Wintney and teams take players on trial in pre-season all the time but not all make it.

I'd be surprised if he makes it at Woking but I could be wrong, it has been known ! :-]

Do you remember Colin Fielder who came to Slough from Farnborough. He was highly rated but did nothing in the Slough team, and yet he went to Woking after, and played regularly in their first team and fans raved about him.

One man's medicine is another's man's poison.

How is it fair that they can make this last minute change and mess up other clubs’ travelling plans? Will they compensate them, will they f#*%!

Overall I would think most clubs would be reasonably happy with this as it means less travelling and somewhere much easier to get to with better facilities.

Wasn't Colin Fielder our record signing costing 10k or am I getting mixed up with Paul Coombs?

We paid 18000 for Fieder and he was as useful as a chocolate fireguard but often its about fitting in with other team mates as subsequent teams rated him

We swopped Fielder in the summer of 92 for George Friel who was another who only lasted one season.Fielder played for Woking for four years and scored the winner in time added In the FA Trophy final against Kidderminster 94/95.

RR

Truro have already said that they will subsidise travel between Truro and Torquay for anyone who has already purchased a season ticket and anyone who doesn't want to go down that road will get a full refund

Truro must have known that ground sharing was a distinct possibility and my guess is they chose to keep it quiet not to affect ticket sales.

Not sure they had any other option but It's still good that they are offering subsidised travel (personally think it should be free travel) or your money back.

Incredible to think that on top of their current travelling distances for away games that supporters and some of their staff and players will now have nigh on another 4 hour round trip for home games.

We swapped Colin Fielder for George Friel at the end of his stint with us. The club actually paid a transfer fee for Fielder, with the money we got for Thommo's transfer to Wycombe.

If memory serves me correct we sold Thommo for £22,000 and bought Colin Fielder for £18,000 from Farnborough. Frankly we were robbed ! !

Thommo was worth double that at the time. I reckon our manager at the time,Alan Davis, must have been on the magic mushrooms when he scouted Colin Fielder, as he was nothing like the player we all had hoped for,as a replacement for our star player, and was very ordinary at best.
