Hungerford have announced the signing of Sam Deadfield from Basingstoke.

 

The only problem is Hungerford negociated and signed the player not realising that he was still under contract with B'stoke.

 

B'stoke are awaiting contact from Hungerford.

Looking at the Coventry web site most of the players they've released have gone back to their parent club except for the two players mentioned.

 

It's pretty certain the player concerned will also be trialing at other clubs.

I’m surprised if it’ll be Reid as he’s played a third of matches in Coventry’s promotion season. Plus he has extensive FL experience and even though he’s 30 not sure he’d be ready to drop to our level yet?

If it's one of them two it'll be Sayoud who's 21, lives in London and has come up from the Nike Academy to progress into the Coventry under 21's and 23's and then into their 1st team squad.

 

After being released perhaps he's taking a step back to get his career back on track.

I hadn’t bothered to research the other guy but what you’ve stated obviously makes a lot more sense that he’d be the player on trial. But as someone said he’ll no doubt be trialling at a few clubs trying to get the best deal naturally. I’m sure he won’t be the only decent trialists we’ll have this pre-season.

Interesting point you make here, Curtis, I was wondering what the average age of our squad is, as it has definitely gone up.

 

I'm not worried about it, as we go into the season with a fairly settled squad and with two very experienced additions to help steady our ship in the new division. I do, however believe we will need to recruit a few younger recruits further down the line,once we've settled into the division.

 

It's a bit of a Catch 22 for our managers,as they need to find out what players are up to the rigours of the Conference South, and which are not. Experienced  players can be valuable to a newly promoted side but as we know, some older senior players just get over the hill and reach their sell by date. Remember Gary McDonald?

 

Now just doesn't strike me as the time to be experimenting too far from the squad we all ready have, and it appears that Bakes and Unders seem to be thinking along those lines,too.

Woking had no fewer than 12 trialists in yesterday's 3-0 pre season friendly win against Fleet Town including ex Rebels trialist Paul Hodges.
