More changes-for the worst?

Simon has gone-no surprise I guess. But Lee Gledhill? He gives the impression of being arrogant and not a team player but nevertheless he's been one of the few consistent players this season; and we have no obvious replacement.

Tomlinson on the transfer list? Who's left to play up front - D'Souza & Cogger or Roger 'hairy' Willis - what is this a freak show? Zoricich I recall was pretty good but where is it all going? Downhill rapidly & now there is a question about the Chairman's commitment. Oh dear, oh dear.

Agree. Don't think anyone who watched the second half at Hitchin last week would deny that something needs done. But it's a bit frustrating reading posters who have been calling for changes knocking efforts to actually make some without even waiting to see whether they'll make a difference. Whether it's enough remains to be seen, but at least some action is being taken to address the fall-off in performances.

but this is a critical season for the club and we cannot afford ,in any sense of the word, to drop a league

With the current level of income (falling gates, outside sponsorship etc.) it appears to me (only my opinion) that we cannot "afford" to move to a higher league. The additional costs would cripple the club within half a season. Would that be acceptable as a way forward ?

so these changes desperately need to work....good to see decisive action

Agreed, but (again in my opinion) most of those coming in, in the short term anyway, will be youngsters. So everyone connected to the club needs to pull together, give things a chance to settle down and give these players the opportunity to perform without being constantly presurised. It will take time for these boys to adjust to the required standard but they will give you everything they have.

With these points in mind would it be a major disaster to stay at a lower level for a year or two while the situation develops ?

Cheers, Rob.

Have to hold my hand up, not doing much on that front at all. Am a bit curious to know what part of my "job" as a volunteer Match Secretary / Programme contributor I'm neglecting in that respect, but always willing to try new things, so just let me know what you do and how you do it and I'll see whether I'm qualified and able to give it a shot as well.

Just a quick comment in reply to EFMTFTV above.

I heard somewhere last year that Lee Gledhill didn't take to office work, or whatever he was doing at William Verry Ltd,and that he resigned from the company while continuing to play for the Club, of course.

I believe that he has/had applied to join the Police.

Okay, people.

Listen.

Going into the Conference South is NOT a step up - it's a step sideways.

Should we fail to make the Top 13 and not win the play-off, then we go DOWN a level.

It is NOT a case of 14 promotion places.

It is TEN relegation places.

If we find ourselves in the Ryman (level 7) next season, then promotion to the new Conference set-up will be as difficult as it's ever been to win the Ryman, with probably only one promotion place up for grabs.

We simply MUST finish Top 13 to remain a club of this size.

Or we WILL become just another London Colney.

1. The level of football would be higher although the league would be at the same level.

2. I think 2 promotion places are planned, with play-offs for the second of those.
