Monday 7th. May : Kings Lynn Town v Slough Town play-off final

Recommended Posts

Regarding the attendance, the stated figure does look on low side.

I recall a Conference South play-off match, Farnborough 2 Ebbsfleet 4, 2010/11..... Farnborough initially declared the attendance as 3,400, but when challenged and reviewed by the league it was revised to 4,300.

This can still be seen by looking up the match on BBC (which have the initial declared attendance) and wiki (which has the revised attendance).

There would have been several Southern League officials at the match, and I would be surprised if at least some of them don't think the attendance was under-declared.

Can't get too exited about them fiddling the attendance figures. Happens too often when gates are split ! If they are prepared to do it then it says more about the ethos of a club which will leave them a lot poorer in the the long -run than the few grand they have managed to filch.

I'm no Arsenal fan but was impressed with Wengers farewell speech , about how he cares about The values of Arsenal as a club not just the results in the field. One of the reasons I feel so damn proud of STFC at the moment is not just the promotion but the manner we have achieved it .

It's the icing on the Cake but the cake is Steve, Arbour Park , the Volunteers , Neil and Jon .

We play football the right way , we behave in a dignified manner and our managers are professional but approachable , honest but never indiscreet.

I have always liked Jon and Neil from the moment they arrived but it has been wonderful to see them grow as managers, to make the changes and the decisions to take us forward. Those decisions , bringing people in , selecting the right team kept us competitive in 63 games in 4 different competitions.

Whatever next season has in store for us it's going to be a blast whatever the results and I am confident we are in good hands.

It's a very good time to be a Slough fan at the moment.

I would also like to add and say when looking at the social sites you read the views from the players themselves and how much it means to them and how proud they feel for playing for Slough Town the Club and its fabulous Supporters.

Even when players move on the respect always stays.

Look at those at Bracknell when we were playing in the FA Cup they wanted to be kept up to date with the scores at the same time as they were playing there own game.

It is so good to see as Supporters so many èx players and managers who come back to see the team play and you are able to chat to get there views on the past and present.

Not many Clubs would get that Respect.

Feel so proud to be a Supporter of this great Club.

Can't add any more to what's already been said, everyone involved deserves massive credit.

Think I'll take my chances on the programme re-print that Kay's organised, last resort E-Bay.

I do feel rather p..... off with KL. High admission prices, pre-printed tickets should have made it easy to get in, inadequate organisation, hooligans, beer in cans, ran out of food (or just closed early), queues for everything, even exiting the ground, and a questionable attendance figure! Their chairman looks like a nice honest bloke though...........

Whatever it was a great day, and THAT goal from Manny, when he took that touch from Dobbos excellent cross you just knew he was going to score! Brilliant.

Like to say also that Ryan Jarvis gave a decent interview after the game. Fair play to him.

Oh, and a bonus .......I won the prediction league as well (thanks Floody).

Guest route104

Two KL followers(will not call them supporters)arrested for public order offences one in his 40s and one in his 60s so hardly kids.thought the policing and stewarding was spot on but the organisation on the day was chaotic to say the least. But i must say Manny is now a Slough legend wat to see him in that hat a few more times.

Was certainly an amazing day and season, which will certainly stay in the memory for a long time. As others have said the work from Manny to score was incredible, plus Dobson's excellent cross and the frankly superb work of Davies to set that up too.

A shame about the trouble at the end (it certainly wasn't completely unprovoked) but the stewards and police did an excellent job. One small window on one of our coaches was broken, fortunately nothing more. Going out of town under police escort will certainly be talked about for many years.

Congratulations to the players and management for pulling off a season like that. If you'd told us it would happen like that we'd never have believed it. Some amazing highlights and runs of results.

Looking forward to next year already!

There is a very complimentary tweet on Stephen Cleeves twitter page congratulating Neil/Jon and the lads on the victory and conceding that they were beaten fair and square by a better team on the day!

Cameron Norman has left King’s Lynn.... I think I recall Neil or Jon mentioning after our defeat up there in the league match that they thought he was one of the best players in the Southern Premier.

Rumours appear to be that he is heading to Scunthorpe.

A fantastic day to end a fantastic season. Not many teams at any level could do what we've done!

Manny's goal is something I won't ever tire of watching; the coolness and composure of the control and finish (not to mention the top-class delivery from Dobbo) is simply a joy to watch!

Not to mention the midfield graft of Scott Davies before his top-class delivery to Dobbo.

How did we provoke them?

There was a group who were only there for trouble - why did they stay at our end first half and not go and support their team - because they wanted to fight, and they proved that at the end of the game.

There was one old white haired idiot at our end who was constantly provoking them and I hope he has been identified and will not be allowed entrance to Arbour Park.

I think it's worth pointing out that the KL idiots that stood by the dividing fence would not have been regular supporters, at least I hope not. Non League crowds week in week out are not plagued by these sort of people thank goodness.

The unbridled joy from us all was only to be expected and you've got to be man enough to accept that as an opposition supporter.

Clive, I asked that certain white haired idiot quite nicely to stop what he was doing and just get behind his team he told me quite aggressively to F##k off, I told him he was a disgrace !!

Needless to say I never repeated what happened until we were home but I promise you this there is no way I will be selling him a Slough shirt he's not fit to wear it !!!
